Revelation 10:1-11 (Full Chapter — The Study's Central Passage)

10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 10:3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. 10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Daniel 12:1-13 (Full Chapter — Oath Scene, Sealing Command, Sealed Time Periods)

12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. 12:5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 12:6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Ezekiel 2:1-3:27 (Full Context — The Scroll-Eating Prototype)

2:1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. 2:2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. 2:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. 2:4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. 2:5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. 2:6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. 2:7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious. 2:8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. 2:9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; 2:10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. 3:1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. 3:2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. 3:4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. 3:5-7 [Ezekiel sent to Israel, not foreign nations; Israel will not hearken.] 3:8-9 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead. 3:10-11 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart... go, get thee to them of the captivity. 3:12-13 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing. 3:14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. 3:15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib... and remained there astonished among them seven days. 3:16-17 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 3:18-21 [Watchman responsibility: warn the wicked and the righteous.] 3:22-27 [Further commissioning in the plain; tongue bound except when God opens his mouth.]

Revelation 5:1-14 (Full Chapter — The Sealed Scroll and Lamb's Unsealing)

5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. 5:8-9 And when he had taken the book... they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 5:10-14 [Doxology: worthy is the Lamb; every creature in heaven, earth, under earth, and sea gives praise.]

Mystery of God Chain

Daniel 2:28-29

2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets [raz, H7328], and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. 2:29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

Romans 16:25-26

16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.

Ephesians 1:9-10

1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ.

Ephesians 3:3-5, 9

3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:25-27

1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

2 Thessalonians 2:7

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

1 Peter 1:10-12

1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things.

Revelation 10:7

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

The raz-mysterion chain: Dan 2:28 (raz) → Rom 16:25 (mysterion kept secret) → Eph 3:3-5 (mysterion now revealed) → Col 1:26 (hid from ages, now manifest) → Rev 10:7 (mysterion of God finished/completed).

Other Sealed Books in Scripture

Isaiah 8:16

Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

Note: This sealing is of teaching/law among disciples — not a sealed prophetic time-vision. The verb chatham (H2856) is used, but the object (torah/testimony) and purpose (preservation among disciples) differ from Daniel's sealed time prophecy.

Isaiah 29:11-12

29:11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: 29:12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

Note: This describes spiritual inability to read — the problem is not that the book is sealed by divine command to be opened later, but that the people are too spiritually blind to read what is available. No unsealing mechanism is provided. Structurally different from Daniel's sealed-then-unsealed pattern.

Amos Famine/Search Parallel

Amos 8:11-12

8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Compare with Daniel 12:4: "many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." In Amos, the running to and fro FAILS — they seek but do not find. In Daniel, the running to and fro accompanies INCREASED knowledge — the sealed book is being unsealed. The Hebrew shuwt (H7751, "run to and fro") connects both passages, but with opposite outcomes.

Oath References

Genesis 22:16

And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son.

Hebrews 6:13-17

6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 6:14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 6:16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath.

Hebrews 7:21-28

7:21 The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Rev 5:9 every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation
Rev 7:9 all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues
Rev 10:11 peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings
Rev 11:9 people and kindreds and tongues and nations
Rev 13:7 all kindreds, and tongues, and nations
Rev 14:6 every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people
Rev 17:15 peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues

Note: Rev 10:11 is the only list that includes "kings" (basileusin) instead of "kindreds/tribes" (phylai). This substitution may reflect the political dimension of the recommissioned prophecy.

Chronos in Revelation

G5550 chronos appears 4 times in Revelation: | Verse | Text | Sense | |-------|------|-------| | Rev 2:21 | "I gave her space to repent" | Allotted period for action | | Rev 6:11 | "rest yet for a little season" | Brief remaining duration | | Rev 10:6 | "there should be time no longer" | Cessation of time/delay | | Rev 20:3 | "he must be loosed a little season" | Brief allotted period |

In all four Revelation uses, chronos denotes a measured duration or allotted span — not an appointed occasion (kairos) or an age/epoch (aion). The pattern: Rev 2:21 and 20:3 = a granted period; Rev 6:11 = a waiting period; Rev 10:6 = the announcement that such periods will cease.
