Raw Greek Parsing Data¶
Revelation 5:1¶
Greek: Καὶ εἶδον ἐπὶ τὴν δεξιὰν τοῦ καθημένου ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου βιβλίον γεγραμμένον ἔσωθεν καὶ ὄπισθεν, κατεσφραγισμένον σφραγῖσιν ἑπτά.
| Word | Lemma | Strong's | Parsing |
|---|---|---|---|
| κατεσφραγισμένον | κατασφραγίζω | G2696 | V-RPP-ASN (Perf Pass Ptcp Acc Sg N) |
| σφραγῖσιν | σφραγίς | G4973 | N-DPF (Dat Pl F) |
| ἑπτά | ἑπτά | G2033 | A-NUI (numeral) |
| βιβλίον | βιβλίον | G975 | N-ASN (Acc Sg N) |
| γεγραμμένον | γράφω | G1125 | V-RPP-ASN (Perf Pass Ptcp) |
Key: κατεσφραγισμένον = Perfect Passive Participle of katasphragizo (G2696, hapax). The perfect aspect marks completed, settled state. The kata- prefix intensifies: thoroughly/completely sealed. The book HAS BEEN sealed and REMAINS sealed.
Revelation 10:2¶
Greek: καὶ ἔχων ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ βιβλαρίδιον ἠνεῳγμένον.
| Word | Lemma | Strong's | Parsing |
|---|---|---|---|
| βιβλαρίδιον | βιβλαρίδιον | G974 | N-ASN (Acc Sg N) |
| ἠνεῳγμένον | ἀνοίγω | G455 | V-RPP-ASN (Perf Pass Ptcp Acc Sg N) |
Key: ἠνεῳγμένον = Perfect Passive Participle of anoigo (G455). The little book is in a PERMANENT state of having been opened. Not "being opened" (present) or "was opened" (aorist) but "has been opened and remains open" (perfect). The change of noun from biblion (Rev 5:1) to bibliaridion (diminutive "little book") marks the transition.
Revelation 10:5-6¶
Greek: καὶ ὤμοσεν ἐν τῷ ζῶντι εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων... ὅτι χρόνος οὐκέτι ἔσται
| Word | Lemma | Strong's | Parsing |
|---|---|---|---|
| ὤμοσεν | ὀμνύω | G3660 | V-AAI-3S (Aor Act Ind Sg 3) |
| ζῶντι | ζάω | G2198 | V-PAP-DSM (Pres Act Ptcp Dat Sg M) |
| χρόνος | χρόνος | G5550 | N-NSM (Nom Sg M) |
| οὐκέτι | οὐκέτι | G3765 | ADV |
| ἔσται | εἰμί | G1510 | V-FDI-3S (Fut Mid Ind Sg 3) |
Key: χρόνος οὐκέτι ἔσται = "time shall no longer be" — chronos (G5550, duration-time) is negated. Compare Dan 12:7 where the Hebrew oath swears duration (time, times, half); here the Greek oath swears termination (time no more). The reversal is complete.
Revelation 22:6¶
Greek: Οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι πιστοὶ καὶ ἀληθινοί
| Word | Lemma | Strong's | Parsing |
|---|---|---|---|
| πιστοὶ | πιστός | G4103 | A-NPM (Nom Pl M) |
| ἀληθινοί | ἀληθινός | G228 | A-NPM (Nom Pl M) |
Key: "These words [are] faithful and true" — pistoi kai alethinoi. This is the NT equivalent of Dan 8:26's emeth hu ("truth is it"). Both are authentication formulas declaring the reliability of the prophetic content.
Revelation 22:10¶
Greek: Μὴ σφραγίσῃς τοὺς λόγους τῆς προφητείας τοῦ βιβλίου τούτου· ὁ καιρὸς γὰρ ἐγγύς ἐστιν.
| Word | Lemma | Strong's | Parsing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Μὴ | μή | G3361 | PRT-N (negative particle) |
| σφραγίσῃς | σφραγίζω | G4972 | V-AAS-2S (Aor Act Subj Sg 2) |
| λόγους | λόγος | G3056 | N-APM (Acc Pl M) |
| προφητείας | προφητεία | G4394 | N-GSF (Gen Sg F) |
| βιβλίου | βιβλίον | G975 | N-GSN (Gen Sg N) |
| καιρὸς | καιρός | G2540 | N-NSM (Nom Sg M) |
| ἐγγύς | ἐγγύς | G1451 | ADV |
Key: μὴ σφραγίσῃς = prohibitive subjunctive (μή + aorist subjunctive 2nd singular). This is the STRONGEST form of negative command in Greek. The object τοὺς λόγους τῆς προφητείας τοῦ βιβλίου τούτου ("the words of the prophecy of this book") echoes Dan 12:4's ha-debarim + ha-sepher. The causal clause ὁ καιρὸς γὰρ ἐγγύς ἐστιν ("for the time is near") reverses Dan 8:26's ki le-yamim rabbim ("for it is for many days"). Note: kairos (G2540, appointed-time/season) is used, not chronos (G5550, duration) — the appropriate moment has arrived.
