Prior Series Studies

sv-03-tamid-doa-connection (Study 3: The Daily-to-Annual System)

Relevant findings: - The daily (tamid) and annual (DOA) services are two phases of one integrated system. The daily puts sin IN; the annual takes sin OUT. - The vocabulary distinction is absolute: kaphar+salach (daily, forgiveness) vs. kaphar+taher (annual, cleansing). salach never appears in Lev 16; taher never appears in Lev 4-5. - The tamid never stops -- even on the DOA itself (Num 29:11, millebad formula). This is the base layer of the worship calendar. - The nasa verb connects both phases: priest bears sin IN (Lev 10:17); scapegoat bears sin OUT (Lev 16:22). Same verb, opposite directions. - The DOA's three-category formula (tumot, pesha, chattat) covers more than the daily service handles -- pesha (willful rebellion) has no daily provision. - Key for sv-04b: The daily-to-annual system establishes the mechanics that the Jubilee DECLARES resolved. The Jubilee trumpet sounds on the DOA because the DOA is when the accumulated defilement is removed. Liberty follows cleansing.

sv-04-doa-ritual-sequence (Study 4: The Day of Atonement Ritual)

Relevant findings: - The DOA follows a chiastic structure: inward movement to the Most Holy Place (pivot), then outward. Five lines of grammatical evidence confirm this (nominal clauses, WXYq center, kapporeth distribution, nazah symmetry, kalah closure). - The three-verb chain in Lev 16:30 traces the complete arc: kaphar (act) -> taher Piel (process) -> taher Qal (state). This is the DOA's explicit result: cleansing before the LORD. - "Afflict your souls" (Lev 23:29) makes the DOA a sorting event. Those who participate are cleansed; those who refuse are cut off (karath Niphal -- divine passive). No other festival carries this penalty. - The Pual of anah in the penalty clause (v.29) implies the affliction involves something done TO the soul -- a divine process, not merely a human act. - The divine-knowledge function is built into the DOA: only God can verify inner compliance with "afflict your souls." This is not a new feature layered onto the type. - Key for sv-04b: The DOA's binary outcome (cleansed OR cut off, Lev 16:30/23:29) maps to Isaiah 61:2's binary proclamation (ratson/favor + naqam/vengeance). The sorting function of the DOA is the mechanism that enables the Jubilee's liberty declaration -- only the cleansed receive it.

sv-14-dan-924-six-purposes (NOT YET COMPLETED)

This study has not yet been run in the series. Its planned topic -- Dan 9:24's kaphar+tsedeq bridge -- is directly relevant to sv-04b. The CUSTOM-INSTRUCTIONS note that sv-04b provides a second vocabulary bridge (Isaiah 61: deror -> tsedeq) alongside the Dan 9:24 bridge that sv-14 will establish. sv-04b should build its case independently and note that sv-14 will later examine the complementary Dan 9:24 evidence.

Title: Jubilee: Liberty Proclaimed on the Day of Atonement Relevant findings: - The Jubilee's three interlocking components: personal liberty (deror), return to possession (shuv to land), return to family (shuv to kinship). All three are declared on the DOA. - Theological foundation: "the land is mine" (Lev 25:23) -- the Jubilee asserts divine sovereignty. No human transaction can permanently alienate what belongs to God. - The deror (H1865) -> aphesis (G859) LXX mapping creates a demonstrable vocabulary bridge from the Jubilee institution to the NT concept of forgiveness. Every NT proclamation of aphesis is linguistically a Jubilee proclamation. - The Tishri sequence (Trumpets -> DOA -> Jubilee -> Tabernacles) encodes: warning -> judgment/liberation -> celebration. - Jeremiah 34:15-17 demonstrates the Jubilee's two-edged nature: deror that liberates can also judge. God "proclaims a liberty to the sword" for those who revoke their liberty proclamation. - The three-stage "already/not yet" pattern: Jubilee proclaimed (Luke 4:18-21), Spirit given as deposit (Eph 1:13-14), full redemption awaits (Rom 8:23). - Specific for sv-04b: This study's primary weakness is that it did not trace the Isaiah 61 vocabulary chain verse by verse through the deror -> tsedeq -> tsedaqah progression. That is exactly what sv-04b must do.

sanc-16-feast-of-tabernacles (Score: 0.613)

Title: Feast of Tabernacles: God Dwelling with Man Relevant findings: - The sukkah -> skene LXX bridge (PMI 16.97) and the exclusive NT use of skenoo (5x, all Johannine) establish the vocabulary spine of the dwelling theology. - The fall feast sequence encodes: warning (Trumpets) -> judgment/purification (DOA) -> permanent dwelling/celebration (Tabernacles). The five-day gap between DOA and Tabernacles represents the theological principle that atonement must be complete before God can dwell fully. - The emotional trajectory: DOA commands "afflict your souls" (Lev 23:27); five days later Tabernacles commands "rejoice before the LORD" (Lev 23:40). Affliction to joy is structurally mandated. - Isaiah 4:4-6 follows the DOA-to-Tabernacles sequence exactly: purification by "spirit of judgment and burning" (v.4), THEN God creates a sukkah for shelter (v.6). The feast's own vocabulary in the feast's own sequence. - Rev 7:14-16 repeats: washed robes in blood (DOA atonement) -> he shall skenosei over them (Tabernacles sheltering). - Key for sv-04b: Tabernacles is the third element of the Tishri sequence. Its commanded joy is the endpoint of the arc that begins with Trumpets' alarm and passes through the DOA's judgment/Jubilee.

sanc-12-seven-feasts (Score: 0.458-0.563)

Title: The Seven Feasts as Prophetic Calendar Relevant findings: - The seven feasts form a unified prophetic calendar. Spring feasts = first advent fulfillments (Passover, Firstfruits, Pentecost). Fall feasts = eschatological correspondences (Trumpets, DOA, Tabernacles). - The four-month gap between Pentecost and Trumpets corresponds to the church age. - Tabernacles is the ONLY feast projected into the eschatological age (Zec 14:16). - Col 2:16-17's present participle mellonton ("things coming") indicates shadows still pointing to unfulfilled realities. - Key for sv-04b: The Tishri sequence is not three independent feasts but one unified eschatological narrative: alarm -> judgment -> celebration.

sanc-14-feast-of-trumpets (Score: 0.408-0.441)

Title: The Feast of Trumpets: Herald of the Day of Atonement Relevant findings: - zikron teruah ("memorial of blowing") -- the construct chain means the memorial consists of the trumpet-blast. It is a memorial that brings Israel before God's attention (Num 10:9 chain: blow alarm -> be remembered before the LORD -> be saved). - teruah spans three semantic fields: war cry/alarm, acclamation of joy, liturgical trumpet blast. Trumpets inherits all three. - The LXX teru'ah -> salpinx bridge maps to the NT eschatological trumpet (1 Thess 4:16; 1 Cor 15:52). - Key for sv-04b: Trumpets is the starting point of the Tishri arc. Its alarm function sets up the DOA's judgment, which sets up the Jubilee's liberty, which sets up Tabernacles' celebration.

rev-22-new-jerusalem-tabernacles (Score: 0.541)

Title: New Jerusalem: The Tabernacles Antitype (Rev 21:1-22:5) Relevant findings: - Rev 21:3's double sken- root (skene + skenosei) is the ONLY verse in the NT where both noun and verb of this root co-occur. Deliberate Tabernacles vocabulary. - The DOA-to-Tabernacles calendar sequence is preserved in Rev 20-21: judgment completed -> permanent dwelling. - The cubic New Jerusalem (Rev 21:16) = expanded Most Holy Place (1 Ki 6:20). The entire city IS the Holy of Holies. - Key for sv-04b: The eschatological Tabernacles fulfillment confirms the arc: DOA judgment (Rev 20) -> eternal dwelling/celebration (Rev 21-22).

sanc-19-vindication-courtroom (Score: 0.409)

Title: Vindication: Tsadaq and the Cosmic Courtroom Relevant findings: - Dan 8:14's nitsdaq uses courtroom language (tsadaq), not ritual language (taher/kaphar). The sanctuary needs a verdict, not merely decontamination. - LXX data confirms: tsadaq -> dikaioo (PMI 26.99). The semantic orbit is entirely legal. - Zechariah 3:1-4 presents the courtroom scene with garment change as vindication: filthy garments removed + festival robes given. - Key for sv-04b: The tsadaq root appears throughout Isaiah 61 (tsedeq v.3, tsedaqah vv.10-11). This is the same root as nitsdaq in Dan 8:14. Isaiah 61 bridges Jubilee vocabulary (deror) to vindication vocabulary (tsadaq family).

EGW Writings

Lead 1: Tabernacles joy follows DOA cleansing (PP 542.1) EGW claims: "The people of Israel praised God at the Feast of Tabernacles, as they called to mind His mercy in their deliverance from the bondage of Egypt... They rejoiced also in the consciousness of pardon and acceptance, through the service of the day of atonement, just ended. But when the ransomed of the Lord shall have been safely gathered into the heavenly Canaan, forever delivered from the bondage of the curse... they will rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Christ's great work of atonement for men will then have been completed, and their sins will have been forever blotted out." Verify against: Lev 23:27 (DOA affliction) vs. Lev 23:40 (Tabernacles rejoicing) -- does the text itself mandate this joy-after-judgment sequence? Check whether the five-day gap (Tishri 10 to Tishri 15) structurally encodes the principle that atonement enables celebration. Cross-reference Rom 8:22 and the eschatological trajectory.

Lead 2: Tabernacles celebration after DOA (EP 388.6) EGW claims: "This feast was an occasion of rejoicing. It occurred just after the great Day of Atonement, when assurance had been given that their iniquity should be remembered no more. At peace with God, the labors of the harvest ended and the toils of the new year not yet begun, the people could give themselves up to the sacred, joyous influences of the hour." Verify against: Lev 23:34-43 -- does the text give a rationale for the joy? Lev 16:30 -- does the DOA's cleansing ("that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD") produce the condition EGW describes as "assurance that iniquity would be remembered no more"? Note: the text says "clean from all your sins," not "remembered no more" -- check if the latter phrase is imported from elsewhere.

Lead 3: Zechariah 3 garment change as DOA-context vindication (PK 591.1) EGW claims: "As the people of God afflict their souls before Him, pleading for purity of heart, the command is given, 'Take away the filthy garments,' and the encouraging words are spoken, 'Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.' The spotless robe of Christ's righteousness is placed upon the tried, tempted, faithful children of God." Verify against: Zech 3:1-5 directly. Does the text connect the garment change to the DOA's "afflict your souls"? Compare the garment change in Zech 3:4 with the tsedaqah garment in Isa 61:10 -- do both texts describe a post-judgment conferral of righteousness? Is the vocabulary parallel (machalatsot in Zech 3:4 vs. me'il tsedaqah in Isa 61:10)?

Lead 4: Zechariah 3 intercession and vindication (2TT 172.1 / SS 301.3) EGW claims: "Israel were clothed with 'change of raiment' -- the righteousness of Christ imputed to them. The miter placed upon Joshua's head was such as was worn by the priests and bore the inscription, 'Holiness to the Lord,' signifying that, notwithstanding his former transgressions, he was now qualified to minister before God in His sanctuary." Verify against: Zech 3:4-5. The text says machalatsot ("festival garments"), not explicitly "righteousness of Christ." Check whether the Hebrew vocabulary in Zech 3 uses any tsadaq-family words. The connection to Isa 61:10 (me'il tsedaqah, "robe of righteousness") must be established through vocabulary, not assumed.

Lead 5: Jeremiah 34:17 as anti-Jubilee (BR-ASI9 323.6) EGW quotes Jer 34:17 directly: "Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine." Verify against: Jer 34:8-22 in full. The deror vocabulary appears three times in vv.15-17. The key connection for sv-04b is Jer 34:15: "ye had done right (yashar) in my sight, in proclaiming liberty (deror)." Does yashar ("right/upright") create a vocabulary bridge to the righteousness concept? Check whether yashar and tsadaq overlap in the Hebrew semantic field.

Lead 6: Isaiah 61:10 garments as symbol of Christ's righteousness (Haskell, BHB 169.4, 178.13) Haskell states: "Isaiah 61:10. Garments are a symbol of Christ's righteousness" and "Isaiah 61:10. Robe of righteousness." Verify against: Isa 61:10 Hebrew text. The verse uses me'il tsedaqah ("robe of tsedaqah"). Is this the same tsedaqah that appears in v.3 (elei ha-tsedeq, "oaks of righteousness") and v.11 (tsedaqah before all nations)? Trace whether the tsedaqah in v.10 is the same root as nitsdaq in Dan 8:14.

Secrets Unsealed (Stephen Bohr)

Lead 7: Fall feast sequence as Most Holy Place work (HRC p.36) Bohr states: "Judgment and its end: Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles: The Most Holy Place." Verify against: Does the biblical text place Tabernacles in the Most Holy Place context? Lev 23 does not explicitly connect Tabernacles to any sanctuary compartment. Bohr may be inferring from the fall-feast cluster. Check whether the text itself makes this connection or whether it is a structural inference. Rev 11:19 (ark visible at seventh trumpet) may support the connection but must be verified.

Lead 8: The Feast of Tabernacles as eschatological endpoint (HRC Lesson 26-27) Bohr treats the Feast of Tabernacles as the eschatological conclusion of the feast calendar -- the eternal ingathering after the DOA judgment is complete. Verify against: Zec 14:16-19 (nations keep Tabernacles after eschatological battle), Rev 21:3 (skene of God with men), Rev 7:9 (palm branches = Tabernacles imagery). The biblical evidence for Tabernacles as eschatological endpoint is strong across multiple authors. Check whether the DOA-to-Tabernacles sequence in the calendar is the primary evidence or whether NT texts independently confirm it.

Key Vocabulary to Investigate

The research agent should perform independent word studies or verify these vocabulary items:

  1. deror (H1865) -- "liberty/release." Appears in Lev 25:10; Isa 61:1; Jer 34:8,15,17; Ezek 46:17. The word study should verify the full distribution and whether deror is exclusively Jubilee vocabulary.

  2. ratson (H7522) -- "favor/acceptance/will." Appears in Isa 61:2 ("acceptable year of the LORD"). Check whether ratson connects to the DOA vocabulary. Lev 1:3 uses lirtsono ("for his acceptance") for burnt offerings. Does Isa 61:2's "year of ratson" echo the sacrificial acceptance formula?

  3. naqam (H5358/H5359) -- "vengeance/avenge." Appears in Isa 61:2 ("day of vengeance of our God"). The binary ratson + naqam in Isa 61:2 may map to the DOA's binary outcome: cleansed (Lev 16:30) or cut off (Lev 23:29). Verify whether the pairing is parallel to the DOA sorting function.

  4. tsedeq (H6664) / tsedaqah (H6666) -- The chain in Isaiah 61: tsedeq (v.3, "oaks of righteousness"), mishpat (v.8, "judgment"), tsedaqah (v.10, "robe of righteousness"), tsedaqah (v.11, "righteousness before all nations"). All from the tsadaq root -- same as nitsdaq in Dan 8:14.

  5. yashar (H3477) -- "right/upright." Jer 34:15 uses yashar in connection with deror. Verify whether yashar and tsadaq overlap or are distinct semantic fields.

  6. machalatsot (H4254) -- "festival garments" in Zech 3:4. Compare with me'il tsedaqah in Isa 61:10. Are these the same type of garment, or different? The Zech 3/Isa 61:10 parallel depends on whether both texts describe a post-judgment conferral of righteous standing through garment imagery.

Summary of Research Directions

The prior studies establish: - The DOA mechanics (sv-03, sv-04) -- what happens and why - The Jubilee institution (sanc-15) -- what it declares and why it sits on the DOA - The Tabernacles feast (sanc-16) -- what follows and what it represents - The seven-feast calendar (sanc-12) -- the unified prophetic timeline - The vindication vocabulary (sanc-19, sv-01) -- the tsadaq semantic field

What sv-04b must add that the prior studies have NOT done: 1. The Isaiah 61 vocabulary chain traced verse by verse -- deror (v.1) -> ratson + naqam (v.2) -> tsedeq (v.3) -> mishpat (v.8) -> tsedaqah garment (v.10) -> tsedaqah before nations (v.11). No prior study has traced this chain as a unified progression from Jubilee language to vindication language. 2. The Jer 34:15 connection -- deror = yashar. Verify the yashar-tsadaq semantic relationship. 3. The complete Tishri sequence mapped as one arc -- Trumpets (alarm) -> DOA (judgment) -> Jubilee ON the DOA (restoration declared) -> Tabernacles (celebration). Prior studies treat these individually; sv-04b must present the unified arc. 4. The Zech 3:4 / Isa 61:10 garment parallel -- both describe post-judgment garment conferral. Prior studies note Zech 3 but do not connect it to Isa 61:10's tsedaqah garment vocabulary. 5. The explicit vocabulary bridge from deror to the tsadaq root -- demonstrating that Isaiah 61 compresses Jubilee vocabulary into vindication vocabulary within a single chapter, providing a second bridge text alongside Dan 9:24 for the kaphar-tsedeq connection.
