Raw Cross-Testament Parallels Data¶
Note: The cross_testament_parallels_v2.py tool required semantic embeddings that were unavailable during this session ("No embeddings available. Rebuild with sentence-transformers installed."). The --hybrid-ot and --hybrid-nt modes could not execute. Cross-testament connections were instead identified through:
- Strong's number traces (LXX mappings from word study library entries)
- Hebrew/Greek parsing identifying shared vocabulary across testaments
- Nave's Topical Dictionary cross-references
- Manual identification through shared theological concepts
Key Cross-Testament Connections Identified¶
Exo 28:38 → Hebrews 9:28¶
Connection type: nasa avon → anaphero hamartias - OT: Aaron shall BEAR (nasa) the INIQUITY (avon) of the holy things - NT: Christ was offered to BEAR (anaphero) the SINS (hamartias) of many - LXX bridge: nasa maps to airo (G142) primarily, but anaphero (G399) is the NT priestly bearing verb - Shared pattern: priestly figure + sin-bearing verb + community's sin as object
Exo 28:38 → 1 Peter 2:24¶
Connection type: Priestly person as bearing medium - OT: The HP bears iniquity on his FOREHEAD (his person) - NT: Christ bore sins in his own BODY on the tree - Shared concept: The priest's physical person is the vehicle for sin-bearing
Exo 28:38 "tamid" → Heb 7:25 "ever liveth"¶
Connection type: Perpetual bearing → perpetual intercession - OT: Gold plate "always" (tamid) on his forehead → perpetual bearing - NT: Christ "ever liveth" (pantote zon) → perpetual intercession (entynchanein) - The tamid function of the gold plate is fulfilled in Christ's undying intercession
Exo 28:36 "qodesh la-YHWH" → Rev 14:1 "Father's name on foreheads"¶
Connection type: Forehead inscription chain - OT: "HOLINESS TO THE LORD" inscribed on gold plate on HP's forehead (metsach) - NT: Father's name written on foreheads (metopon) of the 144,000 - Intermediate links: Ezk 9:4 (tav mark on foreheads); Zech 3:5 (clean turban on head) - The priestly inscription becomes universal identity marker
Exo 28:36 "qodesh la-YHWH" → Zec 14:20 "qodesh la-YHWH"¶
Connection type: Same inscription, expanded scope - OT: Exclusively on HP's gold plate - Prophetic: On bells of horses and cooking pots - Interpretation: What was exclusively priestly becomes universal — all creation consecrated
Isa 53:12 nasa + yaphgia → Heb 7:25-27¶
Connection type: Sin-bearing paired with intercession - OT: "he bore (nasa) the sin of many AND made intercession (yaphgia) for the transgressors" - NT: Christ "ever liveth to make intercession" (Heb 7:25) + "offered up himself" (Heb 7:27 anaphero) - The pairing of bearing + intercession is the defining feature of the priestly sin-bearing framework
Lev 10:17 → Heb 7:27¶
Connection type: Priestly eating/offering for sin - OT: Priest eats sin offering "to bear iniquity of congregation, to make atonement" - NT: HP "needeth not daily to offer up sacrifice... this he did once, when he offered up himself" - The priest-as-bearer-via-consumption is fulfilled in Christ-as-bearer-via-self-offering
Exo 28:43 warning → Heb 10:31¶
Connection type: Lethal gravity of approaching God - OT: "bear not iniquity and die" — improper priestly approach is fatal - NT: "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God"
Zech 3:4 garment exchange → Gal 3:27 / Rev 19:8¶
Connection type: Divine re-clothing as identity transformation - OT: God removes filthy garments, clothes with machalatsot (change of raiment) - NT: "As many as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ" (endyo) - NT: "Fine linen is the righteousness of saints" (Rev 19:8)
Exo 29:21 / Lev 8:30 sanctification of garments → Heb 7:28¶
Connection type: Garments/priest sanctified together → Son consecrated forever - OT: Blood + oil sprinkled on Aaron AND his garments — both sanctified together - NT: The Son is "consecrated (teteleiomenon) for evermore" — His consecration is permanent and inherent, not requiring external garments
millu (H4394) → teleioo (G5048) via LXX teleiosis (G5050)¶
Connection type: Priestly ordination vocabulary - OT: millu'im = "filling/consecration" — 7-day priestly ordination - LXX: teleiosis = "completion/perfecting" - NT: teleioo used for Christ's own perfecting (Heb 5:9; 7:28) and for believers' perfecting (Heb 10:14) - The NT presents Christ's entire incarnation-death-exaltation as His priestly "consecration ceremony"
