1CO 15:53

Greek: dei gar to phtharton touto endysasthai aphtharsiav kai to thneton touto endysasthai athanasian. Key: dei (it is necessary, divine necessity) + endysasthai (Aor.Mid.Inf of endyo = to put on) + athanasian/aphtharsiav. The mortal (to thneton, substantival adjective, not 'mortal body') must put on immortality.

1CO 15:54

Greek: hotan de to phtharton touto endysetai aphtharsiav kai to thneton touto endysetai athanasian, tote genetai ho logos ho gegrammenos Katepothe ho thanatos eis nikos. Key: katepothe (Aor.Pass.Ind of katapino = swallowed up) -- death swallowed in victory, quoting Isa 25:8.

1TI 6:15

Greek: hen kairois idiois deixei ho makarios kai monos Dynastes, ho Basileus ton basileuonton kai Kyrios ton kyrieuonton. Key: monos (G3441, Nom.Sg.M) = alone/only, modifying Dynastes (G1413) = Potentate.

1TI 6:16

Greek: ho monos echon athanasian, phos oikon aprositon, hon eiden oudeis anthropon oude idein dynatai. Key: ho monos echon (the only one having) + athanasian (G110, Acc.Sg.F = immortality). Present active participle echon = presently, continuously having. Monos = alone, excluding all others.

2TH 1:9

Greek: hoitines diken tisousin olethron aionion apo prosopou tou Kyriou kai apo tes doxes tes ischyos autou. Key: olethron (G3639, Acc.Sg.M = destruction) + aionion (G166, Acc.Sg.M = everlasting). Paul's eschatological punishment word is olethros (destruction), not basanismos (torment).

COL 2:8

Greek: Blepete me tis hymas estai ho sylagogon dia tes philosophias kai kenes apates kata ten paradosin ton anthropon, kata ta stoicheia tou kosmou kai ou kata Christon. Key: sylagogon (G4812, Pres.Act.Ptcp = carrying off as plunder) + dia tes philosophias (G5385, Gen.Sg.F) kai kenes apates (single article = hendiadys: deceptive philosophy).

JAS 2:26

Greek: hosper gar to soma choris pneumatos nekron estin, houtos kai he pistis choris ergon nekra estin. Key: choris pneumatos (G4151, Gen.Sg.N = without spirit/breath) -- James uses pneuma (breath), NOT psyche (soul). The common proof text for 'death = separation of soul from body' actually says 'body without breath is dead.'

JHN 3:16

Greek: houtos gar egapesen ho Theos ton kosmon, hoste ton Huion ton monogene edoken, hina pas ho pisteuon eis auton me apoletai all eche zoen aionion. Key: me apoletai (Aor.Mid.Subj of apollymi G622 = should not perish) + alla eche zoen aionion (but have eternal life). The binary is perish/life, not torment/life.

JUD 1:6

Greek: angelous te tous me teresantas ten heauton archen alla apolipontas to idion oiketerion eis krisin megales hemeras desmois aidiois hypo zophon tetereken. Key: desmois aidiois (G126, Dat.Pl.M = everlasting chains). Aidios (strictly eternal, from aei = always) used here; adjacent verse uses aionios (age-pertaining) for fire.

JUD 1:7

Greek: hos Sodoma kai Gomorra kai hai peri autas poleis, ton homoion tropon toutois ekporneusasai kai apelthousai opiso sarkos heteras, prokeintai deigma pyros aioniou diken hypechousai. Key: pyros aioniou (G166, Gen.Sg.N = eternal fire). Yet Sodom is ashes (2 Pet 2:6). Same author uses aidios (v.6) and aionios (v.7) in adjacent verses -- they are not synonyms.

MAT 10:28

Greek: kai me phobeisthe apo ton apoktennonton to soma, ten de psychen me dynamenon apokteinai; phobeisthe de mallon ton dynamenon kai psychen kai soma apolesai en geenne. Key: apolesai (Aor.Act.Inf of apollymi G622 = to destroy) + en geenne (G1067, Dat.Sg.F). God is able to DESTROY (not torment) both soul and body in gehenna.

MAT 25:46

Greek: kai apeleusontai houtoi eis kolasin aionion, hoi de dikaioi eis zoen aionion. Key: kolasin (G2851, Acc.Sg.F = punishment/correction) + aionion. Kolasis originally meant 'pruning' -- corrective punishment, not retributive torment (which would be timoria).

REV 14:11

Greek: kai ho kapnos tou basanismou auton eis aionas aionon anabainei, kai ouk echousin anapausin hemeras kai nyktos hoi proskynouvtes to therion kai ten eikona autou. Key: ho kapnos (the smoke, nominative subject) anabainei (ascends, present active indicative). The SMOKE ascends, not the people. The formula echoes Isa 34:10 (Edom -- judgment that ended).

REV 20:10

Greek: kai ho diabolos ho planon autous eblethe eis ten limnen tou pyros kai theiou, hopou kai to therion kai ho pseudoprophetes, kai basanisthesontai hemeras kai nyktos eis tous aionas ton aionon. Key: subjects of basanisthesontai (Fut.Pass.Ind.3p = shall be tormented) are ho diabolos (the devil), to therion (the beast), ho pseudoprophetes (the false prophet) -- non-human/symbolic entities.

ROM 2:7

Greek: tois men kath hypomonen ergou agathou doxan kai timen kai aphtharsiav zetousin zoen aionion. Key: zetousin (Pres.Act.Ptcp.Dat.Pl.M of zeteo = seeking) + aphtharsiav (G861). One does not seek what one already possesses.
