This document records the full Tree 3/4 walkthrough for each E-item classified Cond. or ECT and each N-item. Parser-verified original-language data is cited for Gate 2.

E-Item Classifications

E11 (Ecc 9:5) -- "The dead know not any thing" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "know not any thing" applied to the dead = cessation of cognition. Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is ha-metim (the dead ones, Qal Ptcp mp of mut) -- literal dead human beings. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: metim (Verb.Qal.Ptcp.mp.Abs, lemma mut, "die") + eynam (Noun.ms.Abs+3mp, lemma ayin, negation) + yodeim (Verb.Qal.Ptcp.mp.Abs, lemma yada, "know") + meumah (Noun.fs.Abs, "something"). The participial construction "the dead ones are not knowing anything" is grammatically unambiguous. No alternative parsing available. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Wisdom literature -- didactic genre. Propositional truth-claim. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with E012 (Ps 146:4, thoughts perish), E013 (Ps 115:17, dead go to silence), E021 (Ecc 9:10, no knowledge in sheol). No E-item states the dead possess knowledge. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E019 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

E12 (Ps 146:4) -- "In that very day his thoughts perish" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "perish" (abad, H6, destruction vocabulary) applied to thoughts at death. Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is eshtono-tav (his thoughts/plans, Noun.fp.Abs+3ms, lemma eshtono-t). The person whose thoughts perish is the man whose ruach departs (v.4a). Literal human being. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: abdu (Verb.Qal.Perf.3p, lemma abad, "perish") + eshtono-tav (Noun.fp.Abs+3ms, lemma eshtono-t, "thoughts"). The verb abad in Qal perfect 3p with thoughts as subject is unambiguous: "his thoughts perished." Temporal marker: ba-yom ha-hu (on that very day). No alternative parsing. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Psalms -- didactic/poetic. Direct propositional claim about death. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with E011 (Ecc 9:5, dead know nothing), E013 (Ps 115:17, dead in silence). No conflicting E-item. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E011 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

E13 (Ps 115:17) -- "The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "silence" (dumah) as destination of the dead = cessation of activity and sound. Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is ha-metim (the dead ones, Verb.Qal.Ptcp.mp.Abs, lemma mut) and kal-yordey dumah (all who descend to silence). Literal dead human beings. PASS.

  • Gate 3 (Genre): Psalms -- didactic/hymnic. Direct propositional claim. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with E011 (dead know nothing), E012 (thoughts perish), E017 (Ps 6:5, no remembrance in death). No conflicting E-item. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E018 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

E17 (Ezek 18:4) -- "The soul that sinneth, it shall die" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "die" (tamut, death vocabulary) applied to nephesh (soul). Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is ha-nephesh ha-chotet (the soul that sins). Nephesh is a literal person/self. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: ha-nephesh (Art+Noun.fs.Abs, lemma nephesh, "soul") + ha-chotet (Art+Verb.Qal.Ptcp.fs.Abs, lemma chata, "miss/sin") + hi (PersPron.3fs, "it") + tamut (Verb.Qal.Impf.3fs, lemma mut, "die"). The construction is emphatic: the sinning soul, IT shall die. Unambiguous. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Prophetic oracle -- direct speech of God ("saith the Lord GOD"). Didactic/prophetic. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with E020 (Matt 10:28, God can destroy soul and body). No E-item states the soul cannot die. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E016 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

E18 (Acts 2:34) -- "David is not ascended into the heavens" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- David is "not ascended" = the righteous dead are not in heaven. Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is Daueid (David, N-PRI). A literal historical person. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: ou (PRT-N, negation) + gar (CONJ, "for") + Daueid (N-PRI, "David") + anebe (V-2AAI-3S, Aor Act Ind 3S, lemma anabainō, "ascend") + eis (PREP) + tous ouranous (Acc Pl M, "the heavens"). Grammar is unambiguous: "David has not ascended into the heavens." Aorist indicative -- factual statement about David's current (post-death) location. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Kerygmatic speech (Peter's sermon at Pentecost). Didactic/narrative. Direct factual assertion. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with death-state E-items (dead know nothing, thoughts perish, dead in silence). No E-item states David or any righteous dead are in heaven. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E162 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

E19 (1 Cor 15:18) -- "Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "perished" (apollumi, destruction vocabulary) applied to dead believers (conditional on no resurrection). Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject is hoi koimethentes en Christō (those having fallen asleep in Christ). Literal dead human believers. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: ara (PRT, "then") + kai (CONJ) + hoi koimethentes (V-APP-NPM, Aor Pass Ptcp Nom Pl M, lemma koimaomai, "fall asleep") + en Christō (PREP + N-DSM) + apōlonto (V-2AMI-3P, Aor Mid Ind 3P, lemma apollymi, "perish"). Grammar is unambiguous: "then also those having fallen asleep in Christ have perished." The aorist middle apōlonto states completed destruction. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Epistle -- didactic argumentation. Paul's logical argument about resurrection. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with death-state E-items. The argument works ONLY if the dead are not already consciously alive. No conflicting E-item. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Note: This verse is part of a conditional argument ("if Christ be not raised," v.17). The Conditionalist classification applies because the logical structure presupposes that without resurrection, the dead have perished -- which only works if the dead are not already in conscious bliss.

E20 (Matt 10:28) -- "Fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in gehenna" -- Classified: Cond.

  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: V1 -- "destroy" (apollymi/apolesai, destruction vocabulary) applied to soul (psyche) and body (soma) in gehenna. Candidate: CONDITIONALIST.
  • Step 2 Validation Gates:
  • Gate 1 (Subject): The grammatical subject of the destruction is God (ton dunamenon, "the one being able"). The objects are psyche and soma -- literal human person. PASS.
  • Gate 2 (Grammar): Parser output: ton dunamenon (V-PNP-ASM, Pres M/P Ptcp Acc Sg M, lemma dynamai, "be able") + kai psychen kai soma (both soul and body) + apolesai (Aor Act Inf, lemma apollymi, "destroy") + en geennē (PREP + N-DSF). The kai...kai construction emphasizes totality. Apolesai is an aorist active infinitive -- punctiliar aspect, completed action. Grammar is unambiguous: God is able to destroy both soul and body. PASS.
  • Gate 3 (Genre): Didactic teaching of Jesus to his disciples. Direct instruction. PASS.
  • Gate 4 (Harmony): Consistent with E017 (soul that sins shall die). No E-item states the soul cannot be destroyed. PASS.
  • Result: All gates pass. Classification: Cond. stands.
  • Master evidence: Corresponds to E028 in etc6-master-evidence.md.

N-Item Classifications

N1 -- "The psychas under the altar spatially correspond to the blood poured at the base of the OT altar" -- Based on: E1, E14 -- Classified: Neutral

  • Gate 0 (Foundation):
  • N-Test 1 (Universal agreement): Would an ECT scholar agree that the spatial position of "under the altar" corresponds to where sacrificial blood was poured? The OT blood-pouring procedure (Lev 4:7ff) is an observable textual fact. An ECT scholar may dispute the significance of this parallel but would not deny the spatial correspondence. PASS.
  • N-Test 2 (No interpretation): The parallel between hypokatō tou thysiastēriou and yesod mizbeach ha-olah (base of the altar) is a factual observation, not a choice between meanings. PASS.
  • N-Test 3 (Zero added concepts): Both components (Rev 6:9 souls under altar + Lev 17:11 nephesh in blood + Lev 4:7 blood at altar base) are from E-items. The connection is established by the shared vocabulary (psyche/nephesh, thysiastērion/mizbeach, hypokatō/yesod). PASS.
  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: Neither V1 nor V2. This is a typological observation, not a statement about destruction or torment.
  • Result: Neutral. Both sides can accept the spatial correspondence as a textual observation while disagreeing about its significance.

N2 -- "The sphazō vocabulary chain places Lamb and martyrs in the same sacrificial framework" -- Based on: E1, E23, E24 -- Classified: Neutral

  • Gate 0 (Foundation):
  • N-Test 1 (Universal agreement): The identical perfect passive participle (esphagmenon/esphagmenōn) for Lamb and martyrs is an observable grammatical fact. Both sides accept it. PASS.
  • N-Test 2 (No interpretation): This is the only possible reading of the shared participle form. PASS.
  • N-Test 3 (Zero added concepts): The observation is drawn entirely from the text's own vocabulary. PASS.
  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: Neither V1 nor V2.
  • Result: Neutral. Observable grammatical/vocabulary fact.

  • Gate 0 (Foundation):
  • N-Test 1 (Universal agreement): The same verb (anapauō) in Rev 6:11 and Rev 14:13 is an observable lexical fact. Both sides agree the same word is used. PASS.
  • N-Test 2 (No interpretation): The lexical link is factual. However, what "rest" means (unconscious sleep vs. peaceful repose in heaven) is a choice between interpretations. Does this fail? The N-item as stated -- that the anapauō link "identifies" the martyrs' condition with the blessed dead -- is the observable connection. Whether that condition is conscious or unconscious is a further inference. Stated as a vocabulary link, it passes. PASS.
  • N-Test 3 (Zero added concepts): Same word, same author, same book. No added concept. PASS.
  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: Neither V1 nor V2 (the vocabulary observation itself is neutral).
  • Result: Neutral. The lexical link is factual; the interpretation of what "rest" entails is deferred to the inference tier.

N4 -- "Rev 20:4-5 identifies the same group and locates their 'living' at the first resurrection" -- Based on: E1, E8, E9 -- Classified: Neutral

  • Gate 0 (Foundation):
  • N-Test 1 (Universal agreement): The five-link verbal parallel (VP075: psychas, martyria, logos tou Theou, killed-verb, eidon) is an observable textual fact. "They lived" (ezēsan) at the first resurrection is what the text says. Both sides accept that Rev 20:4-5 describes the first resurrection. PASS.
  • N-Test 2 (No interpretation): The identification of the same group via shared vocabulary and the text's own label "the first resurrection" is the only reading. PASS.
  • N-Test 3 (Zero added concepts): All components are from the text itself. PASS.
  • Step 1 Vocabulary Scan: Neither V1 nor V2.
  • Result: Neutral. The textual observation is accepted by both sides; what it implies about the intermediate state is an inference.

N5 -- "The didactic death-state passages govern interpretation of apocalyptic imagery by SIS clarity criteria" -- Based on: E11, E12, E13 -- Classified: Cond.

  • Gate 0 (Foundation):
  • N-Test 1 (Universal agreement): Would an ECT scholar agree that didactic passages govern apocalyptic passages? The SIS clarity criteria (didactic > apocalyptic) is a hermeneutical principle. An ECT scholar would dispute the application of this principle here, arguing that the apocalyptic vision reveals rather than requires interpretation by external passages. FAIL -- this requires accepting the specific hermeneutical framework.
  • Result: Gate 0 FAILS on N-Test 1. Item reclassified from N-tier to I-tier.

Reclassification: N5 is reclassified as I-item. It is an inference that systematizes the SIS clarity criteria from the methodology and applies them to this specific passage. Source: text-derived (the didactic passages and the apocalyptic passage are both E-items). Direction: aligns with E/N (the didactic passages' content aligns with reading the apocalyptic imagery as non-literal). Type: I-A (Evidence-Extending). Position: Cond.
