Compartmental Progression Through Revelation

Station 1: Rev 1:12-13,20; 2:1 -- LAMPSTANDS (Holy Place)

Rev 1:12 "And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;" Rev 1:13 "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle." Rev 1:20 "The seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches." Rev 2:1 "These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks"

Greek: lychnia (G3087, lampstand, Acc Pl F) chrysas (G5552, golden, Acc Pl F). Christ endedymenos (G1746, Perf Mid Ptcp) podere (G4158, foot-length garment, hapax in NT) and periezosmenon (G4024, Perf Pass Ptcp) zone chrysan (golden girdle). Compartment: Holy Place. The lampstand was HP furniture (Heb 9:2). poderes is the LXX word for the high priest's robe (Exo 28:4 LXX; Eze 9:2 LXX). zone (girdle) echoes priestly dress.

Station 2: Rev 4:5-6 -- THRONE ROOM (Mixed HP/MHP Imagery)

Rev 4:5 "And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God." Rev 4:6 "And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind."

Greek: lampades (G2985, lamps/torches, Nom Pl F) pyros (G4442, of fire), NOT lychnia. astrapai (G796, lightnings) + phonai (G5456, voices) + brontai (G1027, thunders) = 3-element theophany from the throne. thalassa hyaline (G2281+G5193, sea of glass/glassy sea) homoia krystallo (G2930, like crystal). Compartment: MIXED. lampades recalls HP furniture. Throne + cherubim (zoa) recall MHP (mercy seat + cherubim). Sea of glass parallels the laver (outer court/HP threshold). This is the THRONE ROOM ESTABLISHING SCENE, not the first step of the progression. Theophany station 1: 3 elements (astrapai, phonai, brontai).

Station 3: Rev 5:6,8 -- LAMB AND GOLDEN BOWLS OF PRAYER

Rev 5:6 "And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth." Rev 5:8 "And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints."

Greek: phialas (G5357, Acc Pl F) chrysas (G5552, Acc Pl F) gemousas (G1073, Pres Act Ptcp Acc Pl F, "being full of") thymiamaton (G2368, Gen Pl N, "incense/odours"), hai eisin hai proseuchai ton hagion ("which are the prayers of the saints"). Vessel state: INTERCESSION. The phialai hold thymiama = prayers. This is the STARTING STATE of the vessel transformation. Compartment: MHP imagery (Lamb slain = sacrifice; throne = mercy seat?), but explicitly intercessory.

Station 4: Rev 6:8-10 -- SACRIFICE ALTAR, FRACTION 1/4

Rev 6:8 "And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." Rev 6:9 "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:" Rev 6:10 "And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?"

Greek: hypokatO (G5270, underneath) tou thysiasteriou (G2379, Gen Sg N, altar -- NO chrysoun modifier). ekraxan (G2896, Aor Act Ind, "they cried out"). Despotes (G1203, "Master/Sovereign Lord") ho hagios kai alethinos (holy and true). ou krineis kai ekdikeis (present tenses: "do you not judge and avenge"). Compartment: Outer court. thysiastErion without chrysoun distinguishes from golden incense altar (8:3, 9:13). Blood under the altar parallels sacrifice blood poured at the base of the burnt offering altar (Lev 4:7). Fraction: 1/4 (tetarton, fourth part). Altar arc position 1: Blood cry -- initiating question of vindication.

Station 5: Rev 8:3-5 -- INCENSE ALTAR AND CENSER (THE PIVOT POINT)

Rev 8:3 "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." Rev 8:4 "And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand." Rev 8:5 "And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake."

Greek (8:3): libanoton (G3031, Acc Sg M, censer) chrysoun (G5552, Acc Sg M, golden). thymiasteria polla (G2368, Nom Pl N, much incense). thysiastErion to chrysoun to enopion tou thronou (the golden altar which is before the throne). Greek (8:4): anebe (G305, Aor Act Ind 3S, "ascended") ho kapnos (G2586, Nom Sg M, smoke) ton thymiamaton (G2368, Gen Pl N, of the incense) tais proseuchais (G4335, Dat Pl F, with the prayers). enopion tou Theou (before God). Greek (8:5): eilephen (G2983, Perf Act Ind, "has taken") ton libanoton (the censer). egemisen (G1072, Aor Act Ind, "filled") auton ek tou pyros tou thysiasteriou (it from the fire of the altar). ebalen (G906, Aor Act Ind, "cast") eis ten gen (into the earth). egenonto brontai kai phonai kai astrapai kai seismos (thunders, voices, lightnings, earthquake). Compartment: Holy Place. Golden incense altar "before the throne" maps to the earthly incense altar "before the veil" (Exo 30:6). VESSEL TRANSFORMATION: libanotos (G3031, censer) -- BOTH NT occurrences here. At v.3: holds incense + prayers (INTERCESSION). At v.5: filled with fire, cast to earth (JUDGMENT). Three verses from intercession to judgment. The most compressed transformation in Revelation. Smoke direction: 8:4 = ASCENDING before God (prayer reaching heaven). Later 15:8 = DESCENDING/FILLING from God's glory (divine presence barring access). Theophany station 2: 4 elements (brontai, phonai, astrapai, seismos). Earthquake ADDED. Altar arc position 2: Intercession at the golden altar.

Station 6: Rev 8:7-12; 9:15,18 -- FRACTION 1/3

Rev 8:7-12 "the third part of trees was burnt up... the third part of the sea became blood... the third part of the rivers... the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars" Rev 9:15 "to slay the third part of men" Rev 9:18 "By these three was the third part of men killed"

Fraction: 1/3 (triton, third part). Escalated from 1/4 at the seals.

Station 7: Rev 9:13 -- GOLDEN ALTAR ISSUES COMMAND

Rev 9:13 "And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God"

Greek: phonen (G5456, voice) mian (one) ek ton tessaron keraton (G2768, horns, Gen Pl N) tou thysiasteriou (G2379, Gen Sg N) tou chrysou (G5552, Gen Sg N, golden) tou enopion tou Theou (which is before God). Compartment: Holy Place. Same golden altar as 8:3. Altar arc position 3: The altar that received prayers now ISSUES COMMANDS. The altar has gained a voice.

Station 8: Rev 11:1-2 -- TEMPLE MEASUREMENT (Boundary Marker)

Rev 11:1 "Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein." Rev 11:2 "But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles"

Greek: metreson (G3354, Aor Act Impv, "measure") ton naon (G3485, Acc Sg M, the naos/inner shrine) tou Theou kai to thysiastErion (and the altar). ten aulen (G833, Acc Sg F, the court) ten exothen (outside) tou naou (the naos) -- ekbale exothen (cast out, leave out). Compartment: Explicit three-zone distinction: naos (inner shrine), altar, and outer court (aule). The outer court is EXCLUDED from measurement = given to Gentiles. The focus narrows INWARD.

Station 9: Rev 11:19 -- THE ARK REVEALED (MHP TRANSITION)

Rev 11:19 "And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail."

Greek: enoige (G455, Aor Pass Ind, "was opened" -- divine passive) ho naos (G3485) tou Theou ho en to ourano. ophthe (G3708, Aor Pass Ind, "was seen" -- divine passive) he kibotos (G2787, Nom Sg F, ark) tes diathekes (G1242, Gen Sg F, of the covenant) autou. astrapai kai phonai kai brontai kai seismos kai chalaza megale. Compartment: MOST HOLY PLACE. kibotos (ark) was behind the veil (Heb 9:3-4), accessible only once a year (Heb 9:7). Its REVELATION marks the opening of the MHP. This is the STRUCTURAL PIVOT. Theophany station 3: 5 elements (astrapai, phonai, brontai, seismos, chalaza megale). HAIL ADDED. Both verbs are divine passives: God opens; God reveals. The initiative is entirely divine.

Station 10: Rev 14:7 -- JUDGMENT HOUR ARRIVES

Rev 14:7 "Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

Greek: elthen (G2064, Aor Act Ind 3S, "came/is come") he hora (G5610, the hour) tes kriseos (G2920, Gen Sg F, of judgment) autou. Aorist = punctiliar arrival. The judgment hour has definitively arrived. Relationship: First angel's message -- the announcement of judgment corresponds to the MHP opening at 11:19.

Station 11: Rev 14:15,17,18 -- TEMPLE AND ALTAR AS JUDGMENT SOURCE

Rev 14:15 "And another angel came out of the temple [naou], crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap" Rev 14:17 "And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven [ek tou naou tou en to ourano]" Rev 14:18 "And another angel came out from the altar [ek tou thysiasteriou], which had power over fire [exousian epi tou pyros]"

Compartment: Post-MHP-opening. The naos is now a SOURCE from which judgment agents emerge. The altar angel has "power over fire" -- the same fire that transformed the censer at 8:5. Altar arc position 4: Angel from altar with fire-power. The altar has moved from receiving blood (6:9) to enabling judgment.

Station 12: Rev 15:1-2 -- SEA OF GLASS TRANSFORMED

Rev 15:1 "seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God." Rev 15:2 "And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast... stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God."

Greek (15:2): thalassan hyalinen (sea of glass) memigmenen (G3396, Perf Pass Ptcp, "having been mingled/mixed") pyri (G4442, with fire). hestOtas (G2476, Perf Act Ptcp, "standing") epi ten thalassan ten hyalinen (upon/on the sea of glass). Transformation: 4:6 sea of glass = crystal (static, pristine). 15:2 sea of glass = mixed with fire (judgment context) AND saints STAND ON it (purification complete; cf. Exo 30:18-21 where priests washed AT the laver).

Station 13: Rev 15:5-8 -- TEMPLE OF TESTIMONY, SMOKE, NO ENTRY

Rev 15:5 "the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened" Rev 15:6 "the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles." Rev 15:7 "one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God" Rev 15:8 "the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled."

Greek (15:5): enoige (Aor Pass, "was opened") ho naos (G3485) tes skenes (G4633, Gen Sg F, of the tent/tabernacle) tou martyriou (G3142, Gen Sg N, of the testimony) -- triple compound, unique in Scripture. martyrion = the law/testimony in the ark. Greek (15:6): endedymenoi (G1746, Perf Mid Ptcp) linon (G3043, linen) katharon (G2513, clean/pure) lampron (G2986, bright/shining). periezOsmenoi (G4024, Perf Pass Ptcp) peri ta stethe (around the breasts) zonas (G2223, girdles) chrysas (golden). COMPARE Rev 1:13: Christ endedymenon podere, periezosmenon zone chrysan. Same two verbs (endyo, perizonnymi), same golden girdle. Angels dress like the priestly Christ. Greek (15:7): phialas (G5357) chrysas (G5552) gemousas (G1073, Pres Act Ptcp) tou thymou (G2372, Gen Sg M, of the wrath) tou Theou. COMPARE 5:8: phialas chrysas gemousas thymiamaton. IDENTICAL construction. thymiamaton (incense = prayers) replaced by tou thymou (wrath). The thymiama-to-thymos shift is the vessel transformation. Greek (15:8): egemisthe (G1072, Aor Pass Ind, "was filled") ho naos kapnou (G2586, Gen Sg M, with smoke) ek tes doxes (G1391, Gen Sg F, from the glory) tou Theou kai ek tes dynameOs (G1411, Gen Sg F, from the power) autou. oudeis (G3762, no one) edynato (G1410, Impf M/P Ind, "was able") eiselthein (G1525, Aor Act Inf, "to enter") eis ton naon achri (G891, until) telesthOsin (G5055, Aor Pass Subj, "should be completed") hai hepta plegai (G4127, the seven plagues). Compartment: MOST HOLY PLACE -- deepest sanctuary. The "testimony" (martyrion) = law in the ark. DOA parallel: Lev 16:17 "there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement" || Rev 15:8 "no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues... were fulfilled." Prohibition (Lev) becomes inability (Rev). The antitype intensifies the type. Composite allusion: Exo 40:34-35 (glory fills, Moses cannot enter) + Lev 16:17 (no man during atonement) + Isa 6:4 (smoke fills house). kapnos (smoke) = Isa 6 vocabulary, not anan (cloud) of Exo 40.

Station 14: Rev 16:1,7,17-21 -- BOWLS POURED, TOTAL JUDGMENT

Rev 16:1 "a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth." Rev 16:7 "And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments." Rev 16:17 "the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done [Gegonen]." Rev 16:18-21 "And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great... great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent"

Greek (16:7): ekouza tou thysiasteriou (G2379, Gen Sg N -- genitive of source) legontos (G3004, Pres Act Ptcp Gen Sg M -- "saying"). The altar SPEAKS. alethikai (G228, true) kai dikaiai (G1342, righteous) hai kriseis (G2920, the judgments) sou. Greek (16:17): Gegonen (G1096, Perf Act Ind 3S, "It has been done / It is finished"). Voice from naos apo tou thronou (from the temple, from the throne). naos and throne identified -- the Judge is on the throne within the naos. Greek (16:18): seismos egeneto megas, hoios ouk egeneto aph' hou anthrOpos egeneto epi tes ges, telikoutos seismos houtO megas. Triple use of ginomai. Superlative: "such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty... and so great." Compartment: Judgment poured FROM the naos. Only God's voice remains inside. Fraction: TOTAL. No fractions. Complete judgment. Theophany station 4: 5+ elements with SUPERLATIVES. astrapai + phonai + brontai + seismos MEGAS (great) + chalaza MEGALE (great). Same 5 elements as 11:19 but with intensifying adjectives and unprecedented superlatives. Altar arc position 5: The altar says "true and righteous" -- VINDICATION. The blood cry of 6:10 ("How long... dost thou not judge and avenge?") is answered. The altar that received the martyrs' blood now confirms the righteousness of the judgment.

Station 15: Rev 19:1-2,11,13,15-16 -- VINDICATION AND EMERGENCE

Rev 19:1-2 "Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments" Rev 19:11 "I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war." Rev 19:13 "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." Rev 19:15 "out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword... he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness [thymos] and wrath [orge] of Almighty God." Rev 19:16 "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Greek (19:2): alethinai kai dikaiai hai kriseis autou -- "true and righteous are his judgments." EXACT echo of 16:7 altar statement. The altar's vindication is confirmed by heaven's celebration. Greek (19:11): en dikaiosyne krinei kai polemei -- present tenses: "in righteousness he judges and makes war." Greek (19:13): peribeblEmenos (G4016, Perf Pass Ptcp) himation (garment) bebammenon (G911, Perf Pass Ptcp, "dipped/stained") haimati (blood). DOA parallel: High priest EMERGES after completing atonement work (Lev 16:23-24). Christ emerges from the opened heaven. But: no explicit garment change; blood-stained garment rather than glory garments. Parallel is THEMATIC, not verbal. Altar arc position 6: Celebration -- "true and righteous" moves from altar declaration (16:7) to universal praise (19:1-2).

Station 16: Rev 20:1-3 -- SCAPEGOAT / SATAN BOUND

Rev 20:1 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand." Rev 20:2 "And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years" Rev 20:3 "And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled"

Greek: ekratesen (G2902, Aor Act Ind, "laid hold on") ton drakonta (the dragon), ho ophis ho archaios (the ancient serpent). edesen (G1210, Aor Act Ind, "bound") auton chilia ete (thousand years). ebalen (G906, Aor Act Ind, "cast") auton eis ten abysson (into the abyss). ekleisen (G2808, "shut") kai esphragisen (G4972, "sealed") epanO autou (over him). DOA parallel: Lev 16:20-22 scapegoat (Azazel) sent to wilderness carrying sins. Rev 20:1-3 Satan bound and cast into abyss. Parallels: (1) sins placed on goat's head / Satan identified as sin's originator, (2) sent to wilderness/uninhabited land / cast into abyss, (3) removed from community / sealed so he cannot deceive. Sequence is correct: AFTER the no-entry judgment phase, the scapegoat/Satan is dealt with.

Station 17: Rev 21:3 -- TABERNACLE OF GOD WITH MEN

Rev 21:3 "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

Greek: he skene (G4633, Nom Sg F, the tabernacle/tent) tou Theou meta ton anthrOpon (of God with men). skenosei (G4637, Fut Act Ind 3S, "he will tabernacle/dwell") met' auton (with them). Verb skenoO derives from skene. The tabernacle VERB (dwelling action) replaces the tabernacle NOUN (structure). God does not dwell IN a tabernacle; He tabernacles WITH His people. Compartment: BEYOND the sanctuary. Feast of Tabernacles fulfilled. Exo 25:8 ("that I may dwell among them") reaches its ultimate expression.

Station 18: Rev 21:22 -- NO TEMPLE (TRANSCENDENCE)

Rev 21:22 "And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it."

Greek: naon (G3485, Acc Sg M) ouk eidon (G3708, Aor Act Ind 1S, "I did not see") en aute (in it). ho gar Kyrios ho Theos ho Pantokrator (G3841, the Lord God the Almighty) naos (G3485, Nom Sg M, predicate nominative) autes estin (is its temple), kai to Arnion (G721, and the Lamb). Structure: naos first appears as OBJECT (what John didn't see), then as PREDICATE (what God and Lamb ARE). The same word is negated then predicated. This is TRANSCENDENCE, not abolition: the sanctuary's purpose (divine-human communion) is so perfectly fulfilled that the structure is absorbed into the divine persons themselves.

Station 19: Rev 22:1-5 -- EDEN RESTORED VIA SANCTUARY

Rev 22:1 "a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb." Rev 22:3 "his servants shall serve him [latreusousi]" Rev 22:4 "they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads." Rev 22:5 "they need no candle [lychnos], neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light [photisei]: and they shall reign for ever and ever."

Greek (22:3): latreusousi (G3000, Fut Act Ind 3P, "they shall serve/worship"). latreuo = priestly service (Heb 9:9; 10:2; 13:10). The priestly service CONTINUES even without a temple structure. Greek (22:4): opsontai (G3708, Fut Mid Ind 3P, "they shall see") to prosOpon (G4383, the face) autou. Face-to-face vision of God -- what no fallen human could survive (Exo 33:20). Greek (22:5): lychnos (G3088, lamp/candle) -- the final term in the light-word triad. ouk echousin chreian phOtos lychnou (no need of lamp-light). Kyrios ho Theos photisei (G5461, Fut Act Ind, "will shine/give light") ep' autous. God IS the light source directly. Light-word triad completion: lychnia (lampstand, Rev 1-3, HP) -> lampas (torch/lamp, Rev 4:5, throne room) -> lychnos (lamp, Rev 22:5, negated because God IS the light). Mediated light -> direct divine illumination.

Leviticus 16 -- Day of Atonement Ritual Sequence

Step 1: Preparation / Garments (Lev 16:2-4)

Lev 16:2 "Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat." Lev 16:4 "He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on."

Step 2: Sacrifice at Altar (Lev 16:6,11)

Lev 16:6 "And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house." Lev 16:11 "And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself"

Step 3: Censer with Incense within the Veil (Lev 16:12-13)

Lev 16:12 "And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail" Lev 16:13 "And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not"

Step 4: Blood at Mercy Seat (Lev 16:14-15)

Lev 16:14 "And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times." Lev 16:15 "Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat"

Step 5: No Man in Tabernacle (Lev 16:17)

Lev 16:17 "And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel."

Step 6: Altar Cleansing (Lev 16:18-19)

Lev 16:18 "And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it" Lev 16:19 "And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel."

Step 7: Scapegoat Sent Away (Lev 16:20-22)

Lev 16:20 "And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat" Lev 16:21 "And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel... putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness" Lev 16:22 "And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited"

Step 8: Priest Emerges, Changes Garments (Lev 16:23-24)

Lev 16:23 "And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there" Lev 16:24 "And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth"

Step 9: Clean Before the LORD (Lev 16:30)

Lev 16:30 "For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD."

OT Glory/Inauguration Parallels

Exo 40:34-35 "Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle." 1 Ki 8:10-11 "the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD." 2 Chr 7:1-2 "the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD's house." Isa 6:1,4 "I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple... And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke."
