Stage 1 — Revelation 6:9-11 (Martyrs' Cry and Promise)¶

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Note: The altar cry at Rev 6:10 uses two key words: "judge" (krineis) and "avenge" (ekdikeis). The altar's response at Rev 16:7 answers the judgment question ("true and righteous are thy judgments"), and Rev 19:2 answers the vengeance question ("hath avenged the blood of his servants"). The complete arc spans from question (6:10) to answer (16:7) to proclamation (19:2).

Stage 2 — Revelation 8:3-5 (Censer Transition)¶

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

Note for SP055: Fifth trumpet = darkness from the pit, with torment and limitations. Fifth bowl = darkness on the beast's throne/kingdom, with gnawing tongues for pain. Both target the "darkness" domain but the bowl is targeted at the beast's power structure and has no limitations.

Revelation 9:13-18 — Sixth Trumpet (Euphrates — 1/3 killed)¶

And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

Note for SP055: Sixth trumpet: Euphrates angels released, 1/3 of men killed. Sixth bowl: Euphrates dried up for kings of the east, universal gathering for Armageddon. Both involve Euphrates, but the bowl removes the 1/3 fraction and the geographical feature entirely (dried, not loosened).

Note: Rev 6:14 says mountains and islands "were moved out of their places." Rev 16:20 escalates: "every island fled away, and the mountains were not found." Movement becomes complete disappearance.

Exodus Frogs Plague (Bowl 6 Allusion — Rev 16:13)¶

Note: In Exodus, literal frogs plague Egypt. In Rev 16:13, three unclean spirits "like frogs" come from the unholy trinity (dragon, beast, false prophet). The Exodus plague was physical; the bowl allusion is spiritual deception.

Note: The third angel's message (14:9-12) announces the verdict that the bowls execute. Those who worship the beast receive the wrath described in 14:10 — the bowls (Rev 16:2, sores on beast-worshippers) are the literal outworking of this announced judgment.

Psalm 79:10 — Avenge the Blood (OT Vindication Precedent)¶

Note: This psalm echoes the altar cry of Rev 6:10 and anticipates the altar's vindication at Rev 16:7 and the cosmic declaration at Rev 19:2.

Revelation 22:11 — Fixed Character Decree¶

Note: This decree marks the close of probation that precedes the bowl outpouring. The bowls fall on those whose characters are permanently fixed — hence blasphemy rather than repentance in Rev 16:9,11,21.

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head. For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

Note: The lex talionis principle — "as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee" — directly parallels Rev 16:6: "they have shed blood... thou hast given them blood to drink."

Revelation 6:15-17 — "Who Shall Be Able to Stand?"¶

And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Note: At the sixth seal, men cry for mountains to hide them from the "wrath (orge) of the Lamb." At Rev 16:20, the seventh bowl answers: "every island fled away, and the mountains were not found" — the very mountains called upon for refuge have vanished. There is no hiding place from the completed wrath.

Leviticus 16:17 — DOA Exclusion (Key Parallel to Rev 15:8)¶

And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

Note: Rev 15:8 parallels this verse with intensification: Lev 16:17 prohibits entry; Rev 15:8 declares inability to enter ("no man was ABLE to enter"). The DOA exclusion marks the judgment phase when only God occupies the sanctuary — the voice at Rev 16:1 that commands the bowl outpouring is therefore God's own voice.
