KEY NOTES:¶
- רְמִיו (remiv): Peil (passive) perfect 3mp = "were placed/thrown/set up." KJV "cast down" is misleading; the thrones were SET UP, not cast down. The Peil of remah here means "placed" (cf. Dan 3:6 where same verb = "thrown/cast").
- עַתִּיק יֹומִין (attiq yomin): "Ancient of Days" -- literally "Old One of Days." Construct chain.
- יְתִב (yetib): Peal perfect 3ms of ytb "to sit." Judicial vocabulary -- "took his seat" as judge.

| וְסִפְרִין | ו + ספר | Conj + Noun.mp.Abs | "and books" |
| פְּתִיחוּ | פתח | Verb.peil.Perf.3mp | "were opened" |
KEY NOTES:¶
- דִּינָא יְתִב (dina yetib): Literally "the judgment sat" = "the court/judgment took its seat." Same verb yetib as in v.9 for the Ancient of Days. The judgment itself is personified as taking its seat.
- סִפְרִין פְּתִיחוּ (siphrin pethichu): "books were opened" -- Peil (passive) of pthch. The books are judicial records. This directly parallels Rev 5:1-9 where the Lamb opens the sealed scroll.
- אֶלֶף אַלְפִין...וְרִבֹּו רִבְבָן: Identical numerical formula to Rev 5:11 "ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands" (myriades myriadon kai chiliades chiliadon). Exact verbal correspondence.

| הַקְרְבוּהִי | קרב | Verb.haf.Perf.3mp.+3ms | "they brought him near" |
KEY NOTES:¶
- כְּבַר אֱנָשׁ (kebar enash): "like a son of man" -- the comparison particle כ (ke) = "like/as." Not a proper title but a description: a figure resembling a human being. This becomes THE messianic title in the Gospels.
- אָתֵה הֲוָה (ateh hava): Periphrastic construction -- participle + auxiliary = "was coming" (progressive past). Depicts ongoing approach.
- מְטָה (meta): Peal perfect of mt' = "he arrived/came to." The Son of Man REACHES the Ancient of Days -- this is a movement TOWARD God, not AWAY from God. This is NOT the Second Coming but an approach to the divine throne.
- הַקְרְבוּהִי (haqrebuhi): Hafel (causative) of qrb = "they caused him to approach/brought him near." Third person plural subject -- angelic attendants escorting the Son of Man into the divine presence. Parallels Rev 5:6-7 where the Lamb approaches the throne.

Text: וְלֵהּ יְהִיב שָׁלְטָן וִיקָר וּמַלְכוּ וְכֹל עַמְמַיָּא אֻמַיָּא וְלִשָּׁנַיָּא לֵהּ יִפְלְחוּן שָׁלְטָנֵהּ שָׁלְטָן עָלַם דִּי־לָא יֶעְדֵּה וּמַלְכוּתֵהּ דִּי־לָא תִתְחַבַּל

| יְהִיב | יהב | Verb.peil.Perf.3ms | "was given" |
| שָׁלְטָן | שׁלטן | Noun.ms.Abs | "dominion/authority" |

| יִפְלְחוּן | פלח | Verb.peal.Impf.3mp | "shall serve" |
| שָׁלְטָן עָלַם | שׁלטן + עלם | Noun + Noun | "everlasting dominion" |
| לָא יֶעְדֵּה | לא + עדה | Neg + Verb.peal.Impf.3ms | "shall not pass away" |
| לָא תִתְחַבַּל | לא + חבל | Neg + Verb.htpa.Impf.3fs | "shall not be destroyed" |
KEY NOTES:¶
- שָׁלְטָן וִיקָר וּמַלְכוּ (sholtan, yiqar, malku): Three-part reception -- dominion + glory + kingdom. Parallels Rev 5:12's sevenfold doxology (power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, blessing).
- כֹל עַמְמַיָּא אֻמַיָּא וְלִשָּׁנַיָּא = "all peoples, nations, and languages" -- parallels Rev 5:9 "every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation."
- The GIVING (yehib, peil passive) emphasizes that dominion is conferred, not seized. The Son of Man receives what the Father gives -- same pattern as Rev 5:7.
Daniel 12:4 (Hebrew)¶
Text: וְאַתָּה דָנִיֵּאל סְתֹם הַדְּבָרִים וַחֲתֹם הַסֵּפֶר עַד־עֵת קֵץ יְשֹׁטְטוּ רַבִּים וְתִרְבֶּה הַדָּעַת

| וְתִרְבֶּה | רבה | Verb.Qal.Impf.3fs | "and shall be increased" |
| הַדָּעַת | דעת | Noun.fs.Abs | "the knowledge" |
KEY NOTES:¶
- Two imperative verbs: סְתֹם (setom, "shut up") and חֲתֹם (chatom, "seal") -- both Qal imperative 2ms, commanding Daniel personally.
- עַד עֵת קֵץ (ad et qets) = "until the time of the end" -- temporal limit on the sealing. The book has an expiration date.
- This creates the SEALED-TO-UNSEALED arc:
- Dan 8:26 + 12:4 -- SEAL the book (command to Daniel)
- Rev 5:1-9 -- Lamb OPENS the sealed book (the time has come)
- Rev 22:10 -- "SEAL NOT the sayings of this book; for the time is at hand" (deliberate reversal)
