Grammatical Analysis¶

זִכְרוּ (zikru) -- "Remember!" -- Qal Imperative 2nd person masculine plural. A direct command to the people.

תֹּורַת (torat) -- "instruction of" -- Feminine singular noun in construct state. Torah is in construct with Mosheh, forming "the instruction/law of Moses."

מֹשֶׁה (Mosheh) -- "Moses" -- Proper noun, masculine singular, absolute state. The nomen rectum (governed noun) in the construct chain.

עַבְדִּי (avdi) -- "my servant" -- Masculine singular noun with 1st person singular suffix. God calls Moses "my servant" -- claiming ownership/authority over Moses and, by extension, the law given through him.

אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִי אֹותֹו (asher tsivviti oto) -- "which I commanded him" -- Relative clause. tsivviti is Piel Perfect 1st singular of tsavah (to command). God says "I commanded HIM" -- the law was God's command transmitted through Moses.

Significance for the Study¶
This verse is critical because: - God Himself uses the phrase "torat Mosheh" (law of Moses) while saying "I commanded him" -- the phrase attributes the law to Moses as mediator without denying God as the ultimate source. - The addition of "chuqqim umishpatim" (statutes and judgments) after "torat Mosheh" suggests the phrase "law of Moses" is being expanded/glossed by its constituent categories. - The location "Horeb" connects to the Sinai giving of law, which included both the Decalogue and the broader legislation. - The suffix "my servant" (avdi) on Moses's name establishes Moses's role as servant/agent, not independent legislator.
