Question¶
How do NT authors treat Daniel 7-12? Do Jesus, Paul, and John/Revelation treat these chapters as independent visions or as one unified prophetic system?
1. The Rev 1:1 / Dan 2:28 Opening Frame¶
Revelation 1 (Full Chapter)¶
1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Key Daniel allusions in Revelation 1: - v.1: "things which must shortly come to pass" = Dan 2:28 LXX "ha dei genesthai" - v.7: "cometh with clouds" = Dan 7:13 "one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven" - v.13: "one like unto the Son of man" = Dan 7:13 - v.14: "white like wool, as white as snow" = Dan 7:9 "whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool" - v.15: "voice as the sound of many waters" = Dan 10:6
Daniel 2:26-49 (Source of "ha dei genesthai")¶
2:26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? 2:27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; 2:29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Critical link: Dan 2:28 LXX reads "ha dei genesthai ep' eschatou ton hemeron" ("what must come to pass in the last days"). Rev 1:1 reads "ha dei genesthai en tachei" ("what must come to pass shortly"). The core formula "ha dei genesthai" is RETAINED; "in the last days" is REPLACED with "shortly."
Revelation 22:6-10 (Closing Frame / Inclusio)¶
22:6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. 22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
Inclusio structure: - Rev 1:1 and Rev 22:6: identical phrase "ha dei genesthai en tachei" frames the entire book - Rev 1:3 and Rev 22:10: matching "ho kairos engys" ("the time is near") forms a second frame - Rev 22:10 "Seal NOT" directly reverses Dan 12:4 "seal the book"
2. The Sealed-to-Unsealed Arc¶
Daniel 8:26¶
And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.
Daniel 12:4¶
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Daniel 12:9¶
And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Revelation 5:1-9 (Unsealing begins)¶
5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Revelation 22:10 (Unsealing command)¶
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
The arc: Daniel SEALED (8:26; 12:4,9) --> Revelation UNSEALED (5:1-9; 22:10) - Daniel told to seal because "it shall be for many days" (8:26) / "the time of the end" is distant (12:9) - John told NOT to seal because "the time is at hand" (22:10) - The Lamb's worthiness to unseal (5:5-9) = the fulfillment era has begun
3. Jesus' Olivet Discourse -- Multi-Chapter Daniel Synthesis¶
Matthew 24 (Full Chapter)¶
24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ... 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: ... 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. ... 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ... 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. ... 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Jesus draws from at least four Daniel chapters in one discourse: 1. Dan 8-9-11-12: "the abomination of desolation" (v.15) -- this phrase spans Dan 9:27, 11:31, 12:11, with background in Dan 8:13 2. Dan 12:1: "great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world" (v.21) -- nearly verbatim from Dan 12:1 "a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation" 3. Dan 7:13: "the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory" (v.30) -- from Dan 7:13 "one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven" 4. Dan 7:14: "power and great glory" (v.30) echoes Dan 7:14 "there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom"
Mark 13:14-27¶
13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: ... 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. ... 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
Mark 13:14: ἑστηκότα (MASCULINE participle) modifying βδέλυγμα (NEUTER noun) = constructio ad sensum, indicating the "abomination" is a PERSON
Luke 21:20-28¶
21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ... 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luke replaces the Semitic idiom "abomination of desolation" with "Jerusalem compassed with armies" but RETAINS eremosis (G2050) in v.20 -- the "Daniel marker" word.
Matthew 26:64¶
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mark 14:62¶
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
At his trial, Jesus combines Dan 7:13 (Son of man in clouds) with Psa 110:1 (sitting at God's right hand), claiming both Daniel's heavenly figure and David's Lord as his own identity.
4. Paul's Man of Sin -- Daniel 7+8+11 Composite¶
2 Thessalonians 2 (Full Chapter)¶
2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Paul draws from at least three Daniel chapters to construct ONE figure: 1. Dan 7:25: "speak great words against the most High" / "think to change times and laws" --> 2Th 2:3-4 "man of lawlessness (anomia)" who opposes God 2. Dan 8:11: "he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down" --> 2Th 2:4 "sitteth in the temple (naos) of God" 3. Dan 11:36: "the king shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods" --> 2Th 2:4 "exalteth himself above all that is called God"
Daniel 7:25¶
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Daniel 8:11¶
Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
Daniel 11:36-37¶
11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
5. Revelation's Composite Beast -- Daniel 7 Synthesis¶
Revelation 13 (Full Chapter)¶
13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
John combines ALL FOUR of Daniel 7's beasts into one creature: - v.2: leopard (Dan 7:6) + bear (Dan 7:5) + lion (Dan 7:4) -- listed in REVERSE order (looking backward through history) - v.1: ten horns = Dan 7:7,24 - v.5: "a mouth speaking great things" = VERBATIM from LXX Dan 7:8,20 ("stoma laloun megala") - v.5: 42 months = Dan 7:25 "time, times, half a time" (3.5 years) - v.6: blasphemy against God = Dan 7:25 "speak great words against the most High" - v.7: "war with the saints" = Dan 7:21 "the same horn made war with the saints"
Daniel 7:3-8, 21, 25¶
7:3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings... 7:5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear... 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard... 7:7 After this I saw... a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible... and it had ten horns. 7:8 ...behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
6. The Time-Period Chain¶
Daniel 7:25 (Aramaic: iddan)¶
...a time and times and the dividing of time.
Daniel 12:7 (Hebrew: moed)¶
...it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
Revelation 12:6 (1,260 days)¶
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Revelation 12:14 (Greek: kairos)¶
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Revelation 11:2-3 (42 months / 1,260 days)¶
11:2 ...the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Revelation 13:5 (42 months)¶
...and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
The equivalency chain: - Dan 7:25: "time, times, half a time" (Aramaic iddan) - Dan 12:7: "time, times, and an half" (Hebrew moed) - Rev 12:14: "time, times, and half a time" (Greek kairos) - Rev 12:6 = 1,260 days - Rev 11:2 = 42 months - Rev 11:3 = 1,260 days - Rev 13:5 = 42 months - All = 3.5 prophetic years (using 30-day months: 42 x 30 = 1,260)
7. The Son of Man Across Daniel and the NT¶
Daniel 7:9-14¶
7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. ... 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Revelation 1:13-16 (MERGES Son of Man + Ancient of Days)¶
1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man [= Dan 7:13], clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow [= Dan 7:9, the ANCIENT OF DAYS]; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
John applies the Ancient of Days' description (white wool hair, Dan 7:9) to the Son of Man (Dan 7:13), MERGING the two figures into one person -- Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:14¶
And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
Matthew 24:30¶
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matthew 26:64¶
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Acts 7:56¶
And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Revelation 1:7¶
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.
Cross-testament parallels confirm: Dan 7:13 is the #1 OT parallel to both Mat 24:30 (score 0.426) and Rev 14:14 (score 0.399)
8. Ten Horns = Ten Kings¶
Daniel 7:24¶
And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
Revelation 17:8-14¶
17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition... ... 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
The parallel is nearly identical: - Dan 7:24: "the ten horns are ten kings" - Rev 17:12: "the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings" - Cross-testament score: 0.500 (the HIGHEST in the study) - Both use the interpretive formula "the X are Y" to decode symbolic imagery
9. Antichrist / "Already at Work"¶
1 John 2:18-22¶
2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us... 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:1-3¶
4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7¶
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2 Thessalonians 2:7¶
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
The "already at work" temporal marker in both John and Paul: - 1Jn 2:18: "even now are there many antichrists" - 1Jn 4:3: "even now already is it in the world" - 2Th 2:7: "the mystery of iniquity doth already work" - Both authors describe the antagonist power as ALREADY emerging in the apostolic era
10. The Kingdom Given to Saints¶
Daniel 7:14, 18, 27¶
7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. 7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Revelation 11:15¶
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:4¶
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them... and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Revelation 22:5¶
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Matthew 25:34¶
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Luke 12:32¶
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
1 Corinthians 6:2-3¶
6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
Cross-testament parallels for Rev 11:15 include FIVE Daniel passages in the top 7 OT matches: - Dan 4:28 (0.409), Dan 4:31 (0.391), Dan 2:44 (0.383), Dan 7:27 (0.383), Dan 7:18 (0.375)
Additional Supporting Verses¶
Daniel 9:27 (Abomination reference)¶
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Daniel 11:31 (Abomination placed)¶
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
Daniel 12:11 (Abomination set up)¶
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
Revelation 12:1-17 (Full Chapter Context for Time Period)¶
12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. 12:14 ...where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:6 and 12:14 state the SAME period in two different formats: 1,260 days = time, times, half a time. This confirms the equivalency and links directly to Dan 7:25 and 12:7.
