Key: כָרְסָוָן רְמִיו -- "thrones were placed/set." The verb רמה (peil = passive of "throw") has been debated: does it mean "cast down" (KJV) or "placed/set up"? The peil (passive) form means "were placed/set." The thrones are being SET for the judgment.

Critical note on direction: The preposition עַד ("to/until") + the verb מְטָה ("he arrived/reached") establish that the Son of Man's movement is TOWARD the Ancient of Days. The haf'el form הַקְרְבוּהִי means "they caused him to approach" -- someone brought him near BEFORE the Ancient of Days. This is NOT a descent to earth; it is an approach to God in the heavenly court.
