Matthew 12:28 — Kingdom "Has Come" (phthano)

εἰ δὲ ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ ἐγὼ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια, ἄρα ἔφθασεν ἐφ' ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ.

Key verb:
- ἔφθασεν (ephthasen) = has come/arrived, from φθάνω (phthano), G5348
  - Parsing: V-AAI-3S = Aorist Active Indicative, 3rd person singular
  - The AORIST tense indicates completed action — the kingdom HAS COME
  - Not future ("will come") but past/completed ("has arrived")

SIGNIFICANCE: Jesus declares the kingdom of God has ALREADY arrived (aorist = completed past action). This directly challenges classical dispensationalism's claim that the stone-kingdom is entirely future.

Matthew 21:44 — Stone Grinding to Powder (likmao)

καὶ ὁ πεσὼν ἐπὶ τὸν λίθον τοῦτον συνθλασθήσεται· ἐφ' ὃν δ' ἂν πέσῃ, λικμήσει αὐτόν.

Key verbs:

SIGNIFICANCE: λικμάω (G3039) appears ONLY here and in Luke 20:18 in the NT. It corresponds to the LXX of Dan 2:44. Two stages: (1) falling ON the stone = being broken; (2) the stone falling ON someone = being ground to powder. This connects Jesus' stone parable directly to Daniel 2.

Colossians 1:13 — Translated into the Kingdom (methistemi)

ὃς ἐρύσατο ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ σκότους καὶ μετέστησεν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Υἱοῦ τῆς ἀγάπης αὐτοῦ

Key verbs:

SIGNIFICANCE: Both verbs are AORIST — completed past action. Believers have ALREADY BEEN transferred into Christ's kingdom. The kingdom is not future; it already exists as a present reality into which people are moved.

Revelation 17:8 — "Was, Is Not, Yet Is" (Gap Language)

τὸ θηρίον ὃ εἶδες ἦν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν, καὶ μέλλει ἀναβαίνειν ἐκ τῆς ἀβύσσου...ὅτι ἦν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν καὶ παρέσται.

Key verbal sequence:
- ἦν (en) = was, V-IAI-3S = Imperfect Active Indicative — past continuous existence
- οὐκ ἔστιν (ouk estin) = is not, V-PAI-3S = Present Active Indicative — current non-existence

SIGNIFICANCE: The grammar explicitly describes a three-phase career for the beast: past existence (ἦν), present non-existence (οὐκ ἔστιν), future return (παρέσται). FUT uses this as the strongest NT evidence for a gap built into the fourth beast's prophetic career. The present tense "is not" (from John's temporal vantage) combined with future "will be present" structurally creates a past-gap-future pattern.

Revelation 17:12-14 — Ten Kings

v12: βασιλείαν οὔπω ἔλαβον = kingdom not yet received (Aor Act Ind 3P)
     ἐξουσίαν...μίαν ὥραν λαμβάνουσιν = receive authority one hour (Pres Act Ind 3P)
     μετὰ τοῦ θηρίου = with the beast

v13: μίαν γνώμην ἔχουσιν = have one mind/purpose (Pres Act Ind 3P)
     τὴν δύναμιν καὶ ἐξουσίαν...τῷ θηρίῳ διδόασιν = give power and authority to the beast (Pres Act Ind 3P)

     νικήσει (nikesei) = will overcome, V-FAI-3S = Future Active Indicative
     Κύριος κυρίων...Βασιλεὺς βασιλέων = Lord of lords, King of kings

NOTE: οὔπω (oupo) = "not yet" — from John's temporal perspective, these kings have NOT YET received their kingdom. This supports FUT's future reading of the ten kings. However, this could also refer to a future (from John's time) historical fulfillment, not necessarily an end-time future.

Revelation 12:5 — Birth and Ascension (Aorist)

καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν, ἄρσεν, ὃς μέλλει ποιμαίνειν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐν ῥάβδῳ σιδηρᾷ· καὶ ἡρπάσθη τὸ τέκνον αὐτῆς πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν καὶ πρὸς τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ.

Key verbs:

SIGNIFICANCE: Both ἔτεκεν (birth) and ἡρπάσθη (ascension) are AORIST — completed past events. This places Christ's birth and ascension within the Revelation 12 narrative, demonstrating that Revelation's apocalyptic timeline includes past events (not all future as strict futurism requires). The rod-of-iron language (Psa 2:9) connects directly to the stone's crushing action in Dan 2.

Ephesians 2:14-16 — One New Man (Israel/Church Unity)

v14: ὁ ποιήσας τὰ ἀμφότερα ἓν = the one who made the both one (Aor Act Ptcp)
     τὸ μεσότοιχον τοῦ φραγμοῦ λύσας = having broken down the middle wall of partition (Aor Act Ptcp)
     τὴν ἔχθραν = the enmity

v15: τὸν νόμον τῶν ἐντολῶν ἐν δόγμασιν καταργήσας = having abolished the law of commandments in ordinances (Aor Act Ptcp)

KEY TERMS:

SIGNIFICANCE: All the key verbs are AORIST — completed past actions. The wall between Jew and Gentile has ALREADY been broken. They have ALREADY been made "one new man" in "one body." This directly undermines the Israel/Church distinction that undergirds dispensationalist futurism's gap theory.

Acts 1:6-7 — Restoring the Kingdom to Israel

v6: ἀποκαθιστάνεις (apokathistaneis) = do you restore, from ἀποκαθιστάνω (apokathistano), G600
    - V-PAI-2S = Present Active Indicative, 2nd Sg — "are you restoring"
    - τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ Ἰσραήλ = the kingdom to Israel
    - ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ = at this time

v7: χρόνους ἢ καιροὺς = times or seasons
    - χρόνος (chronos) = time duration

SIGNIFICANCE: FUT notes that Jesus does NOT correct the disciples' expectation of a future kingdom for Israel — He only redirects their attention from timing to mission. However, Jesus also does not AFFIRM the expectation. The verb ἀποκαθιστάνεις implies returning something to a previous state.

Acts 2:30-31 — David's Throne (Pentecost Sermon)

v30: ὅρκῳ ὤμοσεν αὐτῷ ὁ Θεός = God swore to him with an oath (Aor Act Ind)
     ἐκ καρποῦ τῆς ὀσφύος αὐτοῦ = from the fruit of his loins
     καθίσαι ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ = to seat [one] on his throne (Aor Act Inf)

v31: προϊδὼν (proidon) = having foreseen, V-2AAP-NSM = Aor Act Ptcp
     ἐλάλησεν (elalesen) = he spoke, V-AAI-3S = Aor Act Ind
     περὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως τοῦ Χριστοῦ = concerning the resurrection of the Christ

SIGNIFICANCE: Peter at Pentecost connects David's throne-oath DIRECTLY to Christ's resurrection, not to a future millennium. The argument is: David foresaw Christ's resurrection as the fulfillment of the Davidic throne promise. This supports progressive dispensationalism's "already" element (Christ is ALREADY exercising Davidic authority) while remaining ambiguous about whether the full consummation is future.
