Directive A: Darby's Degenerative Principle and Divine Authorization¶
Darby argues Babylon held unique status because its authority was received "immediately from God Himself" (Dan 2:37-38; Jer 27:6), unlike subsequent kingdoms which received authority derivatively. This establishes a degenerative principle: each metal represents declining quality and directness of divine authorization (gold = direct, silver = derivative, etc.). This is Darby's framework for reading the image as showing God's progressive withdrawal from Gentile governance.
- Retrieve: Jer 27:5-7 with context (God explicitly gives nations to Nebuchadnezzar)
- Run: hebrew_parser.py on Dan 2:37-38 to examine how divine gift of authority is phrased
- Compare: Whether Dan 2:39's "another kingdom inferior to thee" (ara min-nakh) implies qualitative decline in divine authorization or merely geopolitical power
Directive B: Stone Destroys by Catastrophic Force, Not Gradual Influence (Darby/Walvoord)¶
Darby's central anti-historicist argument: the stone "destroys that object by force, without gradual moral influence, completely eliminating previous powers." FUT argues this rules out identifying the stone with the church's gradual expansion or Christianization of the Roman Empire. The stone's action is instantaneous and catastrophic (Dan 2:34-35), not progressive.

Directive C: Clay = Democracy/Populism (Walvoord's Identification)¶
Walvoord specifically identifies the clay (chasaph) as representing democracy, populism, or "the seed of men" attempting to mingle with authoritarian iron power. The iron = autocratic/imperial governance; the clay = popular rule. These cannot cohere, producing structural instability.

Directive D: Rev 17:8 "Was, and Is Not, and Yet Is" as Explicit NT Gap Language¶
Rev 17:8 describes the beast with explicit past-gap-future structure: "was" (historical Rome), "is not" (the ten-horn phase does not exist from John's perspective), "yet is" / "shall ascend" (future return). FUT treats this as the strongest NT evidence that the fourth beast/kingdom has a gap built into its prophetic career. This verse is critical but is NOT in the current PROMPT.md verse retrieval lists.
- Retrieve: Rev 17:8-11 with full chapter context (add to the existing Rev 17:12-18 retrieval directive)
- Run: greek_parser.py on Rev 17:8 -- parse "en kai ouk estin kai parestai" to determine whether the grammar requires a past-gap-future reading or permits other construals
- Cross-reference: Rev 17:10-11 (seven kings: "five are fallen, one is, the other is not yet come") as FUT's identification framework
Directive E: "Kingdom Not Yet Filled the Earth" Argument (Walvoord)¶
If the stone = Christ's first advent establishing the church, then the stone-kingdom should have already "filled the whole earth" (Dan 2:35). But Christianity has not achieved universal, unchallenged dominion; competing religions, secular states, and atheism persist. Walvoord argues that "became a great mountain and filled the whole earth" implies total, universal dominion that no period since the first advent matches.
- Run: hebrew_parser.py on Dan 2:35 focusing on "filled the whole earth" (mal'at kol-ar'a) -- does the verb form require completeness, or could it describe progressive filling?
- Compare: Hab 2:14 ("the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD") and Isa 11:9 ("the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD") as parallel "filling" language -- do these require a single moment or allow progressive realization?
- Note: This argument cuts against both PRET (first advent stone) and partially against HIST (if the stone = Second Coming but the kingdom grows progressively)
Directive F: Acts 1:6-7 as FUT Evidence for Non-Inaugurated Kingdom¶
FUT cites Acts 1:6-7: the disciples ask "Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" Jesus does NOT correct their expectation of a future kingdom for Israel; He only says "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons." FUT argues Jesus' non-correction validates the expectation of a future literal kingdom -- the stone-kingdom is still coming.
- Retrieve: Acts 1:6-8 with context
- Run: greek_parser.py on Acts 1:6 -- parse apokathistaneis (G600, restore) to determine whether this verb implies a return to a previous state
- Compare: Acts 3:19-21 ("times of restitution of all things" -- apokatastasis, G605) as a parallel restoration text
Directive G: Progressive Dispensationalism's "Already/Not Yet" Modification¶
Progressive dispensationalists (Bock, Blaising, Saucy) modify classical dispensationalism by acknowledging the kingdom has been inaugurated in the present age (Christ currently exercises Davidic authority at the Father's right hand, Acts 2:30-36) while maintaining that full fulfillment is future. This "already/not yet" framework partially concedes the inaugurated-kingdom texts that Focus Area 8 gathers, while preserving the future stone-strike. The research agent should note this as an internal FUT modification that strengthens FUT's position against the inaugurated-kingdom critique.

- Run: greek_parser.py on Acts 2:30-31 (oath to David; Messiah's resurrection as enthronement)
- Note for analysis agent: Distinguish classical dispensationalism (kingdom entirely future, no current Davidic reign) from progressive dispensationalism (inaugurated Davidic reign with future consummation). The analysis should evaluate which version of FUT is textually stronger.
Directive H: Dan 7:12 + Rev 13:2 as FUT's Mechanism for ka-chadah Coexistence¶
FUT explains HOW all four kingdom-metals can be destroyed simultaneously (ka-chadah, Dan 2:35) through two texts: (1) Dan 7:12 says the first three beasts lost dominion but "their lives were prolonged for a season and time" -- cultural/territorial persistence; (2) Rev 13:2 composite beast incorporates leopard (Greece), bear (Persia), lion (Babylon) features into the fourth beast, meaning the final Antichrist empire absorbs all prior empires' DNA. This is a specific FUT mechanism argument that ties together Dan 2:35, Dan 7:12, and Rev 13:2.
- The individual verses are already in the retrieval list, but the research agent should explicitly note the FUT connection between these three passages when retrieving them

Directive I: Dual Perspective of Dan 2 vs Dan 7 (Darby)¶
Darby distinguishes Daniel 2 from Daniel 7 as presenting the same kingdoms from two different perspectives: Dan 2's image = God's perspective (a unified metallic statue, orderly, top-down); Dan 7's beasts = human perspective (wild animals from a chaotic sea, bottom-up). This dual-perspective hermeneutic supports FUT's argument that prophecy is multi-layered and that the same events appear differently depending on the vantage point.

Directive J: FUT Counter to batarakh/Succession Language¶
FUT responds to HIST's gap-free succession argument (based on batarakh "after thee" in Dan 2:39) by arguing that batarakh describes historical sequence (B follows A), not temporal contiguity (B begins the instant A ends). There was no zero-gap transition from Babylon to Persia -- Cyrus had been building power for decades. Similarly, Greece did not instantly replace Persia. If transitions between kingdoms 1-2-3-4 were not instantaneous, a gap between kingdom 4's phases is methodologically possible.

Directive K: Revived Rome Geographic Scope Beyond Europe¶
Walvoord argues the ten-nation confederacy would include not just Southern Europe but also Northern Africa and Western Asia, since Rev 13:2's composite beast incorporates all three preceding empires which were largely Asiatic. The future Roman confederacy's territory would encompass the full geographic scope of all four prior empires.
- Note for analysis agent: When evaluating the "revived Roman Empire" concept, distinguish between a Europe-only model and Walvoord's broader Mediterranean-Asian model. The broader model better fits Rev 13:2's composite beast but requires an even more unprecedented political reconstitution.
