Key observations: - וְאָהַבְתָּ = waw-consecutive + Perfect 2ms of אהב -- functions as imperative command: "and you shall love" - Three prepositional phrases with בְּכָל ("with all"): heart (לבב), soul (נפש), might (מאד) - Each has 2ms suffix (ךָ = "your"): YOUR heart, YOUR soul, YOUR might - Total-person language: the command encompasses intellect/will (heart), life/being (soul), and capacity/resources (might) - The object marker את before YHWH marks the direct object: "you shall love [direct object:] YHWH your God"

Key observations: - Two prohibitions (לֹא + Imperfect = "you shall not"): do not avenge, do not bear a grudge - Then the positive command: וְאָהַבְתָּ = identical form to Deu 6:5 (waw + Perfect 2ms of אהב) - לְרֵעֲךָ = "to/for your neighbor/fellow" (lamed preposition + noun with 2ms suffix) - כָּמוֹךָ = "like you" / "as yourself" (comparative preposition + 2ms suffix) - אֲנִי יְהוָה = "I [am] YHWH" -- divine self-identification as the authority behind the command - The same verb (אהב) in the same form (Qal Perfect 2ms with waw) is used for both love of God (Deu 6:5) and love of neighbor (Lev 19:18)
