SECTION 1: The Olivet Discourse — Matthew 24 (Full Chapter)

Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Matthew 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Matthew 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. Matthew 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Matthew 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Matthew 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Matthew 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. Matthew 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matthew 24:25 Behold, I have told you before. Matthew 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. Matthew 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: Matthew 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, Matthew 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matthew 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matthew 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:45-51 [Parable of the faithful/evil servant — readiness for the master's return]

SECTION 2: The Olivet Discourse — Mark 13 (Full Chapter)

Mark 13:1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! Mark 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Mark 13:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Mark 13:4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? Mark 13:5-8 [Warnings: false Christs, wars, earthquakes, famines — "the beginnings of sorrows"] Mark 13:9-13 [Persecution, testimony, endurance — "the gospel must first be published among all nations" (v.10)] Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: Mark 13:15-23 [Flight instructions; great tribulation; false Christs] Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, Mark 13:25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Mark 13:28-29 [Parable of the fig tree — "when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh"] Mark 13:30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Mark 13:33-37 [Exhortation to watch — "ye know not when the time is"]

Note on Mark's question (13:4): Mark's disciples ask "when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?" — a SINGLE question about "these things" (temple destruction), unlike Matthew's dual question that adds "thy coming and end of the world."

SECTION 3: The Olivet Discourse — Luke 21 (Full Chapter)

Luke 21:1-4 [The widow's mites] Luke 21:5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, Luke 21:6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Luke 21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? Luke 21:8-11 [False Christs, wars, earthquakes, signs from heaven] Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Luke 21:13-19 [Testimony, betrayal, hatred — "not an hair of your head perish"] Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Luke 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Luke 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:29-31 [Parable of the fig tree — "when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand"] Luke 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:34-36 [Warning: "take heed... lest that day come upon you unawares... watch ye therefore"] Luke 21:37-38 [Jesus taught daily in the temple; lodged at Mount of Olives]

Luke's unique material: - v.12: "But BEFORE all these" — places persecution chronologically BEFORE the signs - v.20: Replaces "abomination of desolation" with "Jerusalem compassed with armies" - v.22: "days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled" - v.24: "times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" — unique to Luke; implies extended duration - v.28: "when these things BEGIN to come to pass" — distinguishes beginning from completion - v.31: "the kingdom of God is nigh" instead of Matthew's "it is near, even at the doors"

SECTION 4: "Some Standing Here" + Transfiguration

Matthew 16:24-17:13:

Matthew 16:24-26 [Taking up the cross; losing/saving life] Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. Matthew 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Matthew 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Matthew 17:6-8 [Disciples fell on face, afraid; Jesus touched them] Matthew 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. Matthew 17:10-13 [Discussion about Elijah — "Elias is come already" = John the Baptist]

Mark 9:1-13:

Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Mark 9:2-8 [Transfiguration account — "after six days"; Peter, James, John; Moses and Elias; cloud and voice] Mark 9:9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. Mark 9:10-13 [Discussion about Elijah]

Luke 9:26-36:

Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. Luke 9:28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. Luke 9:29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. Luke 9:30-31 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 9:32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. Luke 9:33-36 [Peter's suggestion of tabernacles; cloud; voice; silence]

Synoptic comparison of "some standing here": - Matthew 16:28: "see the Son of man coming in his kingdom" - Mark 9:1: "seen the kingdom of God come with power" - Luke 9:27: "see the kingdom of God"

All three follow immediately with the Transfiguration account (after 6/8 days).

SECTION 5: Peter's Interpretation — 2 Peter 1 (Full Chapter)

2 Peter 1:1-4 [Greeting; divine power; precious promises; divine nature] 2 Peter 1:5-11 [Add to faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, charity; entrance into everlasting kingdom] 2 Peter 1:12-15 [Peter's urgency — "shortly I must put off this my tabernacle"] 2 Peter 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 2 Peter 1:20-21 [No prophecy of private interpretation; holy men spoke as moved by the Holy Ghost]

Key observation: Peter uses the word parousia (G3952, "coming") in v.16 and explicitly connects it to the Transfiguration experience. He says "WE" (Peter, James, John) were "eyewitnesses of his majesty" on "the holy mount." This is Peter's apostolic testimony that the Transfiguration was a preview/evidence of Christ's parousia.

SECTION 6: Peter's Answer to the "Delay" — 2 Peter 3 (Full Chapter)

2 Peter 3:1-2 [Reminding of prophets' words and apostles' commandment] 2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2 Peter 3:5-6 [Willful ignorance of the flood judgment] 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:11-13 [Dissolution of all things; new heavens and new earth] 2 Peter 3:14-18 [Exhortation to diligence; Paul's epistles; grow in grace]

Key observation: Peter directly addresses the "failed prophecy" objection ("Where is the promise of his coming?") and gives three answers: (1) God's timescale differs from ours (v.8), (2) the delay is purposeful — divine patience for repentance (v.9), (3) the day WILL come — the certainty is not in question, only the timing (v.10).

SECTION 7: Daniel's Son of Man Vision — Daniel 7 (Full Chapter)

Daniel 7:1-8 [Four beasts: lion, bear, leopard, dreadful beast with ten horns + little horn] Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. Daniel 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:11-12 [Little horn beast slain; other beasts' dominion taken away] Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Daniel 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:15-18 [Daniel troubled; interpretation — four beasts = four kings; saints receive the kingdom] Daniel 7:19-22 [Fourth beast inquiry; horn making war with saints; Ancient of Days intervenes] Daniel 7:23-25 [Fourth kingdom interpretation; ten kings; another king who speaks against Most High; "time and times and dividing of time"] Daniel 7:26-27 [Judgment sits; dominion taken away; kingdom given to saints of the Most High] Daniel 7:28 Hitherto is the end of the matter.

Key observation: In Daniel 7:13, the Son of man comes WITH the clouds TO the Ancient of Days — the direction is TOWARD God (heavenly movement), not toward earth. He ARRIVES at God's throne to RECEIVE dominion (v.14). This is an enthronement/investiture scene, not a descent to earth. Jesus draws on this imagery but applies it in multiple ways.

SECTION 8: All "This Generation" Sayings of Jesus

Matthew:

Matthew 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matthew 12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Matthew 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it... Matthew 12:45 ...Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign... Matthew 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Matthew 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Mark:

Mark 8:12 ...Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation. Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation... Mark 9:19 ...O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? Mark 13:30 ...that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

Luke:

Luke 7:31 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? Luke 9:41 ...O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Luke 11:29 ...This is an evil generation: they seek a sign... Luke 11:30 ...so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. Luke 11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them... Luke 11:32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it... Luke 11:50 That the blood of all the prophets... may be required of this generation; Luke 11:51 ...It shall be required of this generation. Luke 16:8 ...the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Luke 17:25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. Luke 21:32 ....This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

Acts:

Acts 2:40 ...Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Pattern: In EVERY instance outside Matt 24:34/Mark 13:30/Luke 21:32, "this generation" refers to Jesus's contemporaries — the people living at that time, characterized by specific moral qualities (evil, adulterous, faithless, perverse). Matt 23:36 is the closest parallel: "All these things shall come upon THIS GENERATION" — explicitly referring to the generation that would experience the judgment Jesus just pronounced, fulfilled in AD 70.

SECTION 9: Luke's Unique Material — Jerusalem's Fall

Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Luke 19:42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. Luke 19:43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, Luke 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

SECTION 10: Jesus at His Trial

Matthew 26:63-64 ...the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

SECTION 11: The Ascension and Promise of Return

Acts 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Acts 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

SECTION 12: Revelation 1:7 — Every Eye Shall See Him

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

SECTION 13: Second Coming / Parousia Texts

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

SECTION 14: Sure Fulfillment of Prophecy

Ezekiel 12:22-25 Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth? Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will make this proverb to cease... The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision. For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel. For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged... Ezekiel 12:28 ...There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.

Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

SECTION 15: Gospel Preached to All Nations

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; Romans 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

SECTION 16: Daniel 9:24-27 (Seventy Weeks)

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

SECTION 17: Additional Supporting Passages

Matthew 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation [genea in some readings], among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
